Why BTX isn't popular?

1. Intel released BTX form factor, but recently I haven't seen any motherboard designed for BTX. WHY?

2. Can Flex-ATX, Pico-ITX, micro-ATX and other SFFs use the same one power supply?
 
also it looks a bit inflexible (ram has to be a bit far from the cpu), provides cooling for your first video card but not the second, and is impopular among case manufacturers as they get the cost of the metal heatsink thingy.
 
Shouldn't this thread at least be in the hardware forum?
 
I was under the impression BTX was suppose to help with increased thermal outputs of components back when Intel was all about clock speeds. Since then they've had a radical turn around in that area, so whats the point?
 
Intel kept changing the spec and not telling anyone, so they got little support from the case manufacturers. BTX concentrated on cooling the CPU, when there are now loads of other things that need cooling in a case too. I think I read a few months back that Intel had given up on BTX.

Personally, I just don't think it offered much over ATX, especially given the huge improvement in cases. You don't need BTX to get all the benefits - you just need one of today's decent cases, and you get better overall cooling, and you get to use a standard ATX motherboard.
 
Nano-ITX is the new kid on the block, micro-ITX gains the most ground as new form factor for anything but high-performance. Although I'm not sure if Dell and HP won't force their own ff whatsoever, as they often do.

Actually, Dell hasn't been using non-standard form factor for quite a while, from my recollection.

While true the form factor for Dell desktop parts on mid-tower/full-tower is standard, the screw hole placement on PCBs of mobos is non-standard. The placement of the screw holes used to secure the CPU cooling mechanism in particular is proprietary.
