Almost NO performance increase and it STILL has image quality probs? Other games look VERY nice however, i dont think we'll be dissapointed.

this is why that review sucks..the 6800 is running at 4x aa and the xt i only at 2x aa.

if you dont pay close attention to the settings you would think both cards perform the same.

It's still not that impressive a gain for a card with the NV40's specs.

You need to change some system setting or something to fix those quality problems its some bug but it can be fixed.

I've got to agree with that. Then again, NFS:Underground showed basically no improvement whatsoever, so that was clearly CPU limited. Maybe Far Cry is too? Shouldn't be though :?

This is the way Hardocp has been reviewing cards for a while now, it shouldnt be a surprise, But IMO I hate the way they have been doing reviews,

nVidia's supposed to have improved their AA, but by how much? I mean with the current generation I'd probably be inclined to take ATI's 2xAA over nVidia's 4xAA.

My beef is that different people like to use different settings / make different tradeoffs. The review is fine for what it is, but I still don't have any idea as to how much faster the NV40 is, what its strong and weak points are, or how it might perform in the settings I like to use :? .

first thing i noted was the poor improvement of the minimum framerate. Alomst as good as (or as bad) then the other cards

I'd like to know why Brent didn't bench Halo, but maybe those graphs weren't leaked. I'm curious to see if Halo really is CPU-limited, or if something as powerful as NV40 can show dramatic speed gains.

Yep, as Marc said, min framerates seem to be CPU-limited in this review.

Brilinear is still present, but judging the text of this screenshot, I think it is finally user settable. Which makes it a very good performance saving feature.

The Geforce 6800 finally has RGMS FSAA just like the Radeon. You can easily see that by looking at this screenshot. I have to say that I don't see any difference in quality between the Radeon and Geforce 6800, so maybe the Geforce 6800 also has gamma corrected FSAA. Or gamma corrected FSAA isn't that much better as we have thought, but RGMS is far more important.

Yes it is, but that's no more an issue till you can choose between trillinear and brilinear ;)

At least it seems nvidia is smartening up and allowing true trilinear to be used and "brilinear" to be user selectable.

Wonder if "FX" users will get this.
