What PSU should I buy?

My computer at the moment uses a 300W PSU that is a little dodgey.
Can I get a 1000W BTX PSU?
I have an ATX case.

Would my bills rise if I went for a 1KW PSU?

I have no idea about anything PSU related.
Thanks.

You want to go from a 300W to a 1KW PSU? You're crazy.

At most you'll need something like a 450W PSU that's decent. You'll also certainly want to stay with ATX (hell, I've never even heard of a BTX PSU, there's no reason why such would need to be redesigned, also the fact that BTX is dead...).

I bought a BTX 500W PSU with duel fans.
It's a decent PSU according to the guy in store.
Let's see if this fixes my problems.

Voltages are much more linear than my previous PSU. Good news. :D

Piece-o-advice I've found very useful; never base your purchase based on what the guy selling you it recommends...ESPECIALLY with computer equipment! :yep2:

Is that legal? For tutoring I would need to prove that my purchase of a PSU is a necessity.

Step 1.
Kruno advertises in local paper as a math tutor.

Step 2.
Spotty youths phone Kruno offering money for maths tutorage.

Step 3.
Kruno then has cash in hand for purchase of nice power supply and replacment hard drives.

Step 4.
Kruno's Mother is not bothered by Kruno.

Its a win-win situation for all concerned.

Thanks. Funny way of putting it. :D

I have doubts on my ability to teach though. :(
