What are the chances of XDR ram and Intel getting together?

intel went with rambus before and it bit them in the ass. High performance but also high costs stop it from going mainstream. I also don't think its really needed

Yeah I remember that quite well the high cost was a big factor in that fiasco. But do you really think that they are going to repeat the same mistake twice? And also why dont you think it is really needed. I mean I am off the opinion that more is never enough in the world of computing!! :p

Hmmm... what's that old saying??? "Once bitten, twice shy" :devilish:

I have a feeling they wouldn't go down that road again, but then again... you never know.... .... ...

Agreed, Master Baiter but the thing is I believe Sony is using the XDR ram and maybe if the PS3 turns out to be a rocking system, then who knows?

As long as their royalty fees and license terms are reasonable, then I see no reason not to. Of course, who knows maybe someone else will come out with an open specification like DDR that is nearly as fast as XDR.
