UT3 "characters are upwards of 30 million polygons"

He's talking about the source models that are used to generate normal maps.

As AlStrong said, but I expect the ingame models to have somewhere between 10-25k polygons.

I wouldn't expect even that - The norm for Gears is only between seven (humanoids) to twelve thousand (Huge monster creatures), and the games are similar in scope; Similar single or multi-player modes with a similar target for number of characters per active map, so I'm figuring they won't be too far off the mark set by Gears.

If i recall correct in GoW single player they use 12.500 polygons, 2048X2048 texture resolution and 50 bones for the 4 Gears. For the Locusts and civilians i assume they use about half of them (6.000 polys and 1024x1024 texture resolution).

Thx for the insight. Pretty interesting you mention GoW because, conscious or unconsciously, you're stating a known fact -- the art of both games is indistinguishable. :(

Cheers
