Using refrast tool

How does one go about using the refrast tool for producing a reference image? Does the app have to support it?

What do you mean with ref rast tool ? Do you mean the ref rast device ? If so then yes the app must allow you to select ref rast as the rendering device, which probably results in a slide show of one image ever couple of secs or mins or hours depending on what you are trying to render. Not sure if you can force ref rast in all apps, some apps might simply kick you out saying you do not meet the minimum specs for the app (hardware acceleration).

Yea, the refrast tool. I was wanting to see if I can get a ref image from Aquamark. I emailed the senior guy over there and he is out of the office till tomorrow. Hopefully they can get me one.

I think 3danalyze (get it from http://www.tommti-systems.com/ ) will allow you to force a d3d app to use the refrast.

Not sure if this has been established, but you need to have the D3D SDK installed to get the refrast. (Not just the end user D3D run-time.)

Tried it myself on an unregged aquamark3 ver and it didn't work either, 3danalyze wouldn't work at all (it wouldn't even display the performance counters). I think I read that massive put anti-cheat protection in it somewhere, so I guess it could be preventing 3danalyze (which has some "cheating" potential) from funcitoning correctly...
