Top-Earning Fictional Characters

Well, though I'm no fan of multicorporations, Disney IS the originator of those characters, so I fail to see the moral outrage in granting them those extensions.
I thought the idea was that after the copyright was up, people could then make their own derivative works. Disney corp. is effectively stopping that - AFAICS that effectively includes, say, a children's nursery painting that "rat" on their walls for the kids.

Movie companies have certainly made use of "out of copyright" material (e.g. Shakespeare, Austin, Gilbert&Sullivan, Homer, Mozart, Beethoven.. .etc etc) but perhaps some feel that their work is somehow more special?

Flippin heck, these figures are insane!!! Mickey made a bit less than 6 billion in 2003??? And from what exactly?!?!
Well it's "Mickey and Friends", so that will include the likes of Donald Duck, Goofy etc. Think Disney World, think of everything that has a Mickey Mouse head symbol on it, think of all the crap for kids around the world...it's really not hard to see how they've made that much money. I'm surprised that they haven't made more, to be honest.

i still want to have sex with a cartoon. i think that would be the coolest thing ever. when I'm rich I'll have www.orient-doll.com style cartoon characters made. that will be so cool. I'll have a housefull of them.... not just cartoon characters but normal people as well... hmm and also abnormal people... I'm going to have a mansion full of my vinyl and silicone-rubber friends!
