"SONY HAS been telling its first party retailers in the UK that PlayStation Portable games will cost £34.99 each in the UK when the handheld console (finally) launches in September."

If this is true (and going by Play's RRP's it appears to be) its another case of UK users getting the shaft. Conversion rates from the US right now puts the games between £20-£25 (and thats with the dollar being stronger than it has been for a while), so even with the online discounting thatz £5-£10 more per copy.

Looks lik I'll be ordering overseas then.

how much would it cost me to send u a game in the mail dave ?

No need to concern yourself with that.. instead let's investigate how much it would cost to send a game to ME instead! :)

But seriously though, the actual posting should be cheap, but the customs, the customs .. For example I ended up paying over 10 euros of customs for Burnout 3 since the customs caught it.

You should be able to send the packages as "gifts", thatway bypassing the need to pay customs.

And atleast here in Finland your order needs to be over 45 euros before custom caughts it.

The inquirer have gotten their numbers wrong. PSP games in the US cost the equivalent of £23 to £28.60 before tax. Add on VAT and that's £27 to £33.60. In the UK RRP will be £35 after tax so the prices aren't all that bad comparatively.

Wow, I never have visited the Inquirer before...but from what I've seen and heard from these forums (about News from the Inquirer) they seem to be very unreliable and mess up on things that would really make people angry.

There needs to be Accountability!!!!!!!!!!! o_O

Oops my mistake, I didn't realise the last bit of Daves post wasn't quoted from the inquirer. So I take it back, the Inquirer aren't wrong, on this occasion.

Indeed  £35 for games here is pants, given they're £30 max elsewhere right now. Should have bought a bunch more games in Canada. CDN$55 was only £27 at the time.

Hmmm, well I guess its so that the game companies can make more PSP games and maybe help put their kids through college :p

No to mention that there's no 1.51+ exploits yet :)

Even if you're going to rip off the majority of stuff you play, buying a few games is courteous and means you're at least doing something to help the platform you're mining for all it's worth.

Later firmware will be a requirement for games in the future, so you can't hide on 1.50 for ever

£179.99 from Play, delivered. I believe that's it's official RRP.
Nuplayer, sued by Sony for imports, is selling it £169.99 (preorders only of course - they can't sell imports!)

Far cheaper than I was expecting!!

I initially bought mine in the US with a used copy of Wipeout and a new copy of Ridge Racer and the conversion rate on the credit card came out to £196 - with VAT that would be £231 so I still essentially got a game free if we factor in VAT (moreso if we remove the US sales tax).
