The Order: 1886

Oh, cool. Congratulations, great trailer...wonder what you guys can pull out of the PS4. I already appreciated your PSP God of Wars...they looked astoundingly good.

I hope at some point, you are allowed to talk some more about the The Order: 1886 graphics/physics technology.

Thank you, I appreciate you saying that.

We will definitely be talking about some of the graphics tech at SIGGRAPH this year, and I'm sure we'll be presenting more in the future.

The game looks great.
I love in particular how clothes react to the characters' movements.

Cool! Looking forward to it!

By the way, is the book you have also suitable for rendering newbies or only professionals?

The older warrior and the main dude [Galahad] look really similar. Maybe they are father and son.

Heck, all three of them could be children of the older dude [ancient order, surviving trough ages trough family ties].

So is it confirmed that we'll only be able to control one of the characters? Could this turn out to be a steampunk version of Fuse with 4 player co-op?

I like the idea of the Order existing through the ages thing. That aspect of the AssCreed series was the smartest decision made this past generation for a game i.p. Thing get stale? Move onto another era. Though I do think AssCreed may have recycled a bit more than welcome.

Well it definitely assumes that you're not a total beginner programmer, and it doesn't really go through all the basics in terms of graphics. It's more aimed at intermediate programmers who aren't familiar with the API. Frank Luna's book might be a better choice if you're very new to games or graphics.

If they manage the same level of graphics fidelity in the rest of the game (without constant fog) then this could be the best looking PS4 game by far. Really impressed by what was shown. And I love the setting. Hopefully it's coming to PC. :) But not going to hold my breath.

SB
Yup, I don't really remember everything at this point.

But I must admit that the PS4 E3 conference wasn't my favourite because it was slow and a bit dull at times -save the price megaton and other announcements- but this was the best looking game of the PS4 conference for me.

Really liking the setting of Victorian London, but I live in London so perhaps some bias here. It sure looked atmospheric and I'd be more than happy with a Gears of War PLUS style game. I love Gears of Wars but, sheesh, we need to tone down the space marines next generation.

Some new info on the game.
The overall feel – that filmic experience… the one thing we brought to this is something people are accustomed too but usually can’t tell. When you watch a movie you don’t question what lens is being used. You don’t question why there is grain on the film or why there’s a certain lighting. Those are things we’ve been accustomed to seeing for 30 years. So when it’s missing we usually go “Wait, something is wrong with this image”.

With this game we replicated a lot of physical attributes. We have true lens distortion. We built physical lenses into our engine so we could get something where people will look it and not be totally disconnected. Games have a tendency sometimes to be too clean and crisp. We thrive in the dirt. We just love the fact that it feels dirty. It’s filmed in a very realistic way.
I like the sound of that, a filmic and engaging single player experience is what I love the most about such a title. This fancy lens distortion effect is probably also contributing to the CGI look of the announcement trailer.

His "30 years" statement is worded badly.

Hopefully they will show more about this game soon [especially gameplay].

PSB: What aspect of the game do you think will make gamers say “Woah, that’s new, I’ve never seen that before”?
RW: There are gameplay features we’ll be talking about that will be very, very cool. Right now we’re playing with things – the moment-to-moment gameplay is really not what you might expect. We didn’t want to make it single-tone, where you rely on one single thing in expense of the rest.

PlayStation.Blog: So, exactly what kind of game is The Order: 1886?
Ru Weerasuriya: The Order is a third person action adventure with shooting mechanics.

So, it isn't just a shooter, more like a game which also has shooting. Want to see gameplay soon.

To be frank, I wouldn't be surprised if they used a bit more of the uncharted formula, but with tighter shooting and more Left4Dead style encounters.
