Would be a real treat if GF8900 is single-slot part with moderate power requirements :p

Seriously, why don't we have any serious R600 leaks yet? It's never been like this before.

You dummy! R600 is cancelled, its too big chip to be created on 80nm, some tech will be shown in R610 and R630, but THE REAL R600 will be called R700 !!!

am I evil? :devilish:

My exact same hopes. If GF8900 was a cool/quiet/single-slot card performing slightly better than 8800 it would be mine the day it came out.

As for the leaks, I have the same worries. Something is wrong.

I don't think there's anything "wrong" there, because in such a case there should be leaks about something being wrong. But there aren't even any consistant rumours of that kind this time around. And that's what I find strange.

Quiet and single-slot (HE-card) doesn't belong to same sentence atm. :/ I would love to have a triple-slot card with proper, ~silent and effective cooler.

I doubt a flagship will ever be single-slot cause that probably means they're leaving performance on the table. What I'm most looking forward to is the mobile variant - hopefully the MXM module allows me to upgrade my XPS. G71 really doesn't like the 1920x1200 native res :???:

I don't know why though. We had the same silence/misinformation during the G80 runup.

No, I remember that a Chinese site leaked very close specs around 3 months prior to the release but everybody laughed at it.

I do think that since we're not hearing any Chinese whispers then vendors didn't adequately see R600 yet.

Yeah? Tell that to those who are trying to play Rainbow Six Vegas on an X800.

I agree, the NV PR is superb, but it takes a couple of years to kick in.

The only reason that game is SM3 only is because it's a port and ubi was too lazy to add in support for anything else. I guarantee if there were an SM2 option the game would look exactly the same (assuming they wouldn't intentially disable some features), it doesn't even look that great to begin with.

No, it doesn't.

You don't think leaked specs have been seen from a couple of months ago?

ok...

pci-e slot = 75w
6 pin - 75w
8 pin - ?

WTF?

I would think it'd either be 2x 6-pin or 1x 8-pin. Either is possible, although we've been led to believe it will be pci-e 2.0 spec, that does include the 8-pin. Who knows...?

I don't doubt this pre-production board may draw more power, but it'll be fixed before release. Perhaps the respin fixed some leakage or summin to bring power consumption (and heat) down? That certainly seems a possibility.

Umm, I don`t think I want to have a 1200W PSU...I really don`t:)Stop the madness!:D

My guess
PCI-e slot = 75w
6 pins = 75w (25w per pair)
8 pins = 100w (same as above)
in total it would be 250w...

Still a little bit less than 300w romour, but that is high enough to supply a normal computer setup

I thought one 6-pin was 75w? Perhaps I am wrong. I was thinking an 8-pin (pci-e 2.0) adapter would be made through two 6-pin pci-e plugs.

I thought rumors put it at 225w, making 75w (slot) + either 2x6-pin or 1x 8-pin logical to me.

Like I said, I think it's very possible the A12 may require more than 225w, but the respin (and perhaps delay) was to get it under 225w. That is of course conjecture on my part.
