You dummy! R600 is cancelled, its too big chip to be created on 80nm, some tech will be shown in R610 and R630, but THE REAL R600 will be called R700 !!!Would be a real treat if GF8900 is single-slot part with moderate power requirements
Seriously, why don't we have any serious R600 leaks yet? It's never been like this before.

My exact same hopes. If GF8900 was a cool/quiet/single-slot card performing slightly better than 8800 it would be mine the day it came out.

I don't think there's anything "wrong" there, because in such a case there should be leaks about something being wrong. But there aren't even any consistant rumours of that kind this time around. And that's what I find strange.
I don't know why though. We had the same silence/misinformation during the G80 runup.
Yeah? Tell that to those who are trying to play Rainbow Six Vegas on an X800.
I agree, the NV PR is superb, but it takes a couple of years to kick in.
No, I remember that a Chinese site leaked very close specs around 3 months prior to the release but everybody laughed at it.
I do think that since we're not hearing any Chinese whispers then vendors didn't adequately see R600 yet.
NEW! Three 8pin and three 6pin PCI-E connectors design supports Multi-GPU Graphic card

Hmm could the r600 need 1 8 pin and 1 6 pin power connector?
ok...
pci-e slot = 75w
6 pin - 75w
8 pin - ?
WTF?
I would think it'd either be 2x 6-pin or 1x 8-pin. Either is possible, although we've been led to believe it will be pci-e 2.0 spec, that does include the 8-pin. Who knows...?
I don't doubt this pre-production board may draw more power, but it'll be fixed before release. Perhaps the respin fixed some leakage or summin to bring power consumption (and heat) down? That certainly seems a possibility.
Umm, I don`t think I want to have a 1200W PSU...I really don`tStop the madness!
My guess
PCI-e slot = 75w
6 pins = 75w (25w per pair)
8 pins = 100w (same as above)
in total it would be 250w...
Still a little bit less than 300w romour, but that is high enough to supply a normal computer setup
According to the numbers in this pressrelaease from Enermax The 8 pin connector can supply 150 W, puting it right at the 300 W peak rumour.
