The cold hearted people at Beyond3D

Okay, so I read more than what you guys think I read.

Reading most of those political threads and the like and most of you seem like cold hearted people, worse than most mass murderers by judging your posts (not you as the person).

If given a choice to live with most of you or go to jail I would take the room with 6'7 guy named Bubba and become his prison bitch and live with a sore ass.

I'm not joking either.

I ask myself, do most of you guys become cold hearted only to win an argument that is going nowhere or are you like that in real life?

I think you'll actually find that most of the people here are actually realistic about their expectations of the world. I guess that most have educations to a high level and are very capable of expressing informed opinions about events in the world around them.

Either that or they are pedantic old grey beards who should have been retired years ago!!

And if you're so warm hearted and humanistic why aren't you folding?

Who said I am not folding? Just because I don't fold for Beyond3D...

j/k

I don't fold. I bend. :p

...are very capable of expressing informed opinions about events in the world around them.

First hand experience will always bring out a much better opinion. Looking at something and acting on it are 2 different things and I realise that.
I am just asking are they just stooping to low levels? Read that current American thread.

I don't find anything in there even remotely educational. It seems that all people are doing is comparing penis sizes and teasing each other.

There are opinions of some people that I respect A LOT.
Chalnoth being one of those people whos opinions I deeply respect and agree with in a vast majority of cases.

I noticed this as well,

Its like a hard line right wingers convention in here sometimes. Then again, most programmers and highly technical people I know are conservative right wing bastards who voted our crazy PC government into office.

Strange eh?

I think you've picked one a poor example of a thread to pick on. (Though L233's recent comment about the US economy melting down being "quite hillarious" if it happened is a bit heartless--but he posted that after you put this one up)

That one actually has a little bit of interesting debate. The Got WMD? thread, on the other hand is simple partisan back and forth bickering.

But yes, any thread with L233 and (Democoder, Vince, or Joe) will eventually devolve into US vs. EU stupidity.

The coldly logical reductionist mindset of your average technical person instantly transforms them into ultra right wing control freaks, whose ring piece puckers tighter than a nuns ****y at the mearest mention of the word liberal...

I blame it on all the chemicals the government puts in the water supply to keep us docile and subservient. I know it's true, I read it on a pamphlet.

You should see what happens if you show them a free thinking libertarian... fairly makes your skin crawl it does

Show me someone who is not a socialist before they are twenty and I will show you someone without a heart. Show me someone who is a socialist by the age of thirty and I will show you someone without a brain. :D

For being well educated they should be reminded of test they heard about in Psychology 101. It was a test set up to gauge how far someone would go into basically torturing another human for the purpose of scientific experiment. I turns out the most educated people were the most likely to implement the maximum pain. That should tell you something right there. Intelligance and empathy are on opposite sides of the brain and one is not a function of the other.

Whats kinda funny is looking at the demographics of left wing/right wing thought.

In highschool, the split is pretty even.

In college its overwhelmingly left..

In grad school, it shifts and leans to the right. Even though by and large the age group 20-30 is left. Around 35 it shifts to the right, and lasts all the way to 60 something. When, curiously it shifts again to the left (retirement benefits are usually blamed)

Oh there is so much truth in this....

Well. Unfortunately politics is not a fun game, people have their thoughts and aspirations absolutely crushed in the political world. It never really was a pleasant forum. The problem is that the truth often entails some of the most painful realities. Personally I find the idea that if your opinion is offending it ought not to be spoken, very offensive. FREEDOM OF SPEECH is an inherent right but these "hate crime" ideas are a massive affront to the basic human right of freedom of speech. While I am not sure if you are making purposefully making parallels here (not that it matters as the mentality is identical.) I am making the connection to the way you feel and this popular political movement.

The truth is that dialogue does not calculate your way of thinking and gleefully stomps your feelings in the name of finding out the objective truth. Freedom of speech permits and I believe even invites offensive speech and in a proper “liberal democracyâ€￾ the only justifiable way to decide what is right is by public condemnation.

It is an exceptionally untrustworthy attitude that we should not hurt others with words, not simply being a social moor but backed by laws and policemen, even if all we are doing is saying the truth. Truly this is a massive attempt to control not only what people are aloud to say but an effort to control what people are allowed to think. It is an alarming affron not just to civil liberties, but to everyone's analysis, a principle to create a society where the primary rules are think nice, say nice and be nice. Today, it seems, there is some sort of societal "right", not to be offended. It seems now in my country freedom of speech has been shot down and turned into a crime. “The truth hurtsâ€￾ could not be better placed and while I understand it does not always hurt ….. it does often.

It is our responsibility in a free society to put up with criticism from any direction. We have a moral obligation to have a thick skin. No proposition should ever disqualified by suppressing the idea. The only way to eradicate a bad idea is by revealing it and decimating it with superior ones. The idea of free thinking is not only free thinking for those who agree with us, but for thinking we hate as well. Ironically the left is moving hard against the same freedom of speech they used in the past to get where they are now, what a creative bunch. Now they have the moral compass in their hands they are making serious efforts to stifle dissenting voices of their policy.

K.I.L.E.R. the shame here is that you would rather spend time in jail with someone whom would likely physically abuse you (BTW I can only assume that your being entirely cynical with this statement.) then simply enjoy free and open debate the later being something that isn’t done enough in our democracy and this is because of complaints the likes of yours. [disclaimer] not intended to be offensive. *cough* [/disclaimer]

They shift at the end of life when they realise they might be accountable for there thoughts and deeds.

What socialism or capitalism has to do with a cold heart?
Some people here are mixing things.

IIRC, Stalin (communist) killed more people than anyone (hitler, atla, etc..).

Good thread killer :)

, actually I would shock the hell out of the subject as I would know that the experiment was fake. Come on who really would believe that stuff. ;)
