Ten things I hate about the Xbox 360: CNET

1) black wasn't the new black . I hate black electronics . Why is a news site posting personal opinions ?

2) cod2 and gpr 3 ?

6) yea kinda sucks . But you can get a nice linksys usb connector for 30-40$ online


8) Sure , but most people have one dvi or hdmi plug and what are you gooing to put on it ? your tivo / hd reciever or your xbox 360 ? Many people aren't going to run a spliter

9)Um okay .... no built in card reader . Still you can just plug your camera into the usb slot .

So true, XBox 360 is dissapointing so far. Actually i am selling it on ebay and make some money on top. That's the only plus side to owning it so far which is pretty good i must say.

No HDMI is a big let down, i have a 50" Sony TV with HDMI which i cannot use, although components are pretty good, but HDMI produces much better picture.
 
these articles are so stupid...

And actually, no HDMI is far from a let down. My TV, and most others, has exactly 1 HDMI port. For anyone sane, that will be reserved for their High Def Movie player. I guess there are always switch boxes though, for a few hundred dollars...

The difference in picture quality isn't that big either, most people would probably be hard pressed to notice...
 
I think that the launch line up is pretty decent and everyone knows it will get better from this point forward. So what if its loud and runs a little hot. I don't quite understand why people are harping on a console that was just released a few weeks ago. Give it time. The games will get better and better.
 
I love the PS3's "Black" finish that was showcased at E3. It had this shiny look to it. All they need to add is a Night Rider'ish blue light on the front that flashes from side to side when a game is loading :D

Ummm, no, no it doesn't. HDMI is mainly for copy protection, yes it's all digital, but there will be practically no discernable difference in quality compared to the same image on component.

It also carries a Digital Audio signal but as far is picture quality, your correct with that.

When are they going to do the 20 awesome things about the 360 article?

This consoke does so much stuff that no ever console ever did, the options, the customizabilitiy, the media capabilities, media extender, downloadable demo's, downloadable music videos, man the list goes on.

When are people going to start giving MS some credit for the awesome software package they've providied? Not enough USB ports on the back? Give me a break.

yep, tough crowd


not talking about here... ;) ... but in general there are a lot of people, including media that dislike MS for some reason. They have to give them a hard time whenever possible. AGAIN... I'm not refering to B3D, just in the general population.

Some people just can't stand that they are a monolith in the industry.

Conversely, I think it's cool. :cool:
 
Consoles look better in black..but that's just me.

The black Xbox 360 debug kits just look night and day better when side by side.

But of course if it was black people would be complaining why it wasn't white.

I blame political correctness. I dont think people like white Ipods, they're just PC..
 
Can someone give me a hypothetical example of all the various things they *need* to have plugged into their 360's USB ports?

Unless they are controller accessories, I can't see the need. If I want to plug in my camera, or... more specifically... to pull pictures off the memory card, I use readers on my computers. I'd never use the 360 because there aren't any workflow apps for dealing with RAW images, and I want to preview, cull, and correct images on a good monitor, not a television.

Even on a computer I use a USB hub rather than the back-panel ports. Why would I want to struggle to get to the back of the computer when I can just use seven ports off of a hub?

Question: Does removable USB storage work with the 360? Can an iPod be plugged in and it's storage enumerated?
 
The main thing I dont like about the 360 is that it's too early. Next gen hasn't arrived yet.

Like the DC the games through the first year will be based on a current gen version as the lowest common denominator. I guess that goes along with #2...

well I disgree since I'm playing next gen games now in HDTV. Screenshots do not do these games justice.

I do agree with you that they are not a BIG jump yet but it is early. By June or July we'll be seeing some amazing stuff based on the potential of the machine and what the devs are hinting at.

It's like this with every Next Gen at launch to some degree, so I don't see how that can be an issue.

Other than the absolutely ridiculous slight against the DC, let me also add that my HDTV disagrees with you. She has already threatened to leave me if I play one more fugly looking game on her. When I'd buy her the latest Xbox game and tell her, "See, this one is pretty, the girl at the video game store said so" she would always laugh and say, "No, let me show you the flaws."

And she would.
