Tecmo to announce PS3 titles "shortly"

he does offer one tantalizing bit with regards to software for the PlayStation 3. After explaining that timing is important when announcing next generation games, he adds, with a laugh, "We will announce titles... shortly."

Yasuda has previously been critical of Sony for its lack of information regarding the PS3. In this interview, he takes a neutral approach to all three next generation systems, citing the Xbox 360 for its internet support, Revolution for its unique interface and PS3 for its visual power.

February, perhaps? ;)

I guess Fatal Frame is one of them. We know from TGS there should be at least one other.

Perhaps more significant is that he's not getting all critical about Sony and PS3, as previously.

It´s been rumored on GAF that DOA is going to be one of those titles, in fact that there´s two of them planned. I´m skeptical on this info, but the source is apparently real, even if worded a little funny.

That has since been debunked by 1up.com:

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3147036

A recent PR statement by Tecmo of Japan stating that two Dead or Alive games are coming to PS3 has led to huge discussion across various internet boards. In a recent PR statement coming from the latest Famitsu the line, "...the next two DoA titles for PS3" appears. Reading this, fans everywhere were shocked. How could a series that's stuck with Microsoft for so long suddenly jump to the Sony system with not just one, but two DoA games? Well, the answer to that is in the quote itself.

The PR statement reads as follows: "Regarding our impressions of the next generation systems, we don't really have enough information about the PS3 or Revolution at the moment. On the other hand, we think Xbox 360's online system will really heat up matches so we've scheduled the next two DoA titles for PS3".

As anyone can see from the above quote, the truth is easy to find. Someone must have made a typo and accidentally typed in PS3 when they meant to type Xbox 360. Well, unless somehow the PS3 runs Xbox Live...but we don't see that happening.

Oh, I see, thanks for the info. It sounded a little fishy. Still, the one and only game from Team Ninja I´d like would be Ninja Gaiden. Hopefully that can happen.

Just to add a little more info here..
Team Ninja has grown immensly the past years and is now as large as Tecmo itself, all this is thanks to the funding that MS has provided to just Team Ninja.

AFAIK, all games that Team Ninja are producing, are funded by MS.. so I wouldn´t expect any games from Team Ninja anytime soon.
(Team Ninja are working with the DoA IP and its incarnations like Extreme volleyball, Code cronus and Ninja Gaiden IPs for the moment..all on 360)

Oh, that´s a shame. The only game I really wanted to play on Xbox was Ninja Gaiden, so I hoped maybe it would show up on PS3. Oh, and before anyone says "just get a X360", I don´t believe in getting a system just for one game.

Ninja Gaiden is my favorite game of last gen. Hopefully you can find other games that you like, would hate for you to miss out :p

Well, an Xbox here is still around $200, so...not really, it´d just be wiser to wait for PS3, or get an X360 for around $480 in february.

Team Ninja is a dev-team of Tecmo...

Team ninja is pretty much seperate from "Tecmo" though, they have their own seperate brandname. If there is a title coming down that's from them, it will explicitely state from TEAM Ninja.

Like I said, Team NInja has grown so much that they are as big as Tecmo. The thing is that Team Ninja is *still* under Tecmo in the sense that they have access to all Tecmo IPs...like Ninja Gaiden, Rygar etc etc...

but yeah.. I agree on what you mean...

According to this its
"TECMO, LTD. Action -Title TBD- Action
TECMO, LTD. Action Adventure -Title TBD- Action Adventure"

I wouldn't bet against DoA/NG coming to PS3 in some form, but I wouldn't bet on it either.

Actually that's Junji Nakamura, the former president of Tecmo, who criticized Sony. Yasuda became the president only recently in 2006 AFAIK.
