This kind of thinking is lazy. There's no critical thought in "just believing" nor is it terribly interesting. The lack of information could be indicative of many things, one of which could be "things are not in order". It also smacks of selective memory. Sony had announced a press event (overlapping Microsoft's, if my memory isn't selective) and I think many people expected something there. Sony did a good job generating the feeling of being further along in development than they actually were at this event, but I don't think it's accurate to say, "No one expected anything at E3."
