ShadowRun Gameplay footage

Looks like HL1 multi-player with pistols only. The aiming correction is far too generous, the bullets come out of the gun at crazy angles.

To me, it looks more like Counter Strike with magic. Not only the gameplay , that particular level literally looks like one from CS.

With all those hand and weapon animations, Shadowrun guys seem to miss the fact that players climbing ladders without using hand looks weird.

Hopefully, game will be fun. Unfortunately people don't seem to think so (yet). I personally like what they are trying to do.

I heard that the final game will have dedicated servers and a party system that are greyed out in the beta.

I think it is a no win situation. The animation looks terrible, but it is more functional control wise. In a game where you have to move quickly like this, I think the current approach to ladders is the only workable one.

Yeah, cmon, where are the gravity lifts in 2029? :p

An elevator lift that you activate would be different. Have it so that you could duck behind some cover while you ascend.

I don't expect them to insert a cut scene while climbing.
Just hiding the gun, keeping the crossair would suffice. They can pop the gun out if one needs to fire on the ladder. Minor issue though.

Were you complaining about the first person view's ladder climbing? If that is the case, I don't see how putting the gun away changes anything. If they can't have the hands actaully on the rungs, I don't see why hiding the gun would be any better (this is totally subjective though, so maybe I just don't see it the same way).

It's a minor detail that would have been nice to show even if it didn't change gameplay in any sense. It's just the notion that your character puts away his weapons while he uses his arms to climb a ladder. It would make a lot of sense to do if you looked down and saw your own body ala Halo 2 or F.E.A.R.

It's not a complain, more of an observation, apparently one I shouldn't have mentioned.

For the record, hiding the gun works better because you typically don't look at the ladder but up or down as one of these is the direction you want to go.

Of course, best would be proper animation involving rest of the body but I wouldn't expect that, especially with the speed and multitasking issues.

Yep.

Yep.

I a m not trying to jump down your throat, its just that I think that it was done before (Deus Ex: Invisible War maybe) and it wasn't particularly impressive. I don't really have a problem when I am climbing ladders, it is when other people are and I can see their arms and legs, and this does nothing to help that.
