Shadermark

So...stating that, my conclusion is the 5600 and down use partial precision, while the 5800/5900 maintain precision.

How about one more screen shot...zoomed in where hardware.fr's shots are..

It's the same problem with my 5800. I've just reinstalled Windows XP (French) SP1 DX9.0A & 44.03 and it's always the same. Is it a bug in Direct3D NVIDIA driver with French OS ? We'll see...

Oh well:

I doubt it :D

I've had one problem in the past with nVidias drivers on non-english windows versions and that was the first set of NV28 compatible Stereo drivers
they installed but 3d was just messed up, crazy errors everywhere

installed english xp and they worked just fine

took me a while to figure that one out :)

well in any case I just downloaded the D3D version too and it looks identical to the output of the OGL version

Really? They don't even do the same thing. The final color lookup is different.

Maybe they do when nVidia's drivers replace the whole innerloop shader in the drivers :devilish:

Seriously, it would be great if you could make different versions of your mandelbrotproggy... I was just thinking about the tripled performance issue mentioned in the other thread, it sounds really strange that when change single instruction in the shader, whole thing just blows up.

I meant precisionwise :)

A bit off the topic, but here goes anyway.

What ever happened to the fellow who writes ShaderMark? Wasn't he one of the regulars here?

Cheers,

AJ

Correct he explains that he won't have access to a phoneline for 1 upto 2 weeks so there will be little site updates. This was posted on the 22nd so he should be back some time next week :?:

Off topic for AJ:

If '03 Pro is for personal use only (according to the License Agreement) > why are you allowing OPPAINTER to use his score to advertise for MSI motherboards?

Don't know what I'm talking about? Try looking on the FM '03 forum & you'll see. Its been posted there since early AM yesterday & not a single post by FM staff as to whether it is OK or not.

Seems to me FM establishes 'rules' but FM doesn't enforce them (unless someone else points it out). What's up w/that?

Edited out pics now that AJ has seen them.

Just me - and where is your evidence that shows that Futuremark are allowing him to do this. The FM staff don't sit around the forums all day long or checking the text in people's compare projects you know :? Do you always direct questions to people from companies in such an aggressive/insulting manner?

Gist of my post & as a regular at FM, Nick, I'm well aware that they are at other web boards posting & not @ FM.

You get around a lot also, but at least you're @ FM too answering questions & reading posts. 8)

I don't post at FM when I'm at work though. I'd seen the post but considering that the title was just "MSI + OPP" there was nothing about it that shouted about any bending of rules. As a regular of FM you should know that the guys/gals in Finland will sometimes miss the forums for relatively long periods of time.

Yet you do get around & you answer lotsa ?'s here, there & everywhere. If you can & have another job ...

Actually the post title is >" :? What the heck? ( OPP and MSI ) "

(We're hijacking the thread & I'm done. ;) )

<Edit for spelling>

Yes we are hijacking this thread (reach for the sky you varmints!) so this'll be my last comment too ;)

I work as a teacher in an independent school, so I get various holidays throughout the year. I often spend a lot of that time writing (things for FM, things for work, and so on) and to alleviate the boredom, I hop back and forth between the FM forums and here. I don't actually post anywhere else. I can do this simply because my "work" during these times permits me to do so. The FM staff tend to only use the boards on a frequent basis when FM are in the news (eg. release of 3DMark, patches, fisticuffs between various companies). Regardless of the specific title for the thread, there was still nothing about it to claim their attention to any unusual business taking place - given the usual nature of threads pertaining to the serious overclocking boys, the title could easily be read to be suggesting that Opp had achieved something amazing with a MSI product, that nobody else had managed to.

Thanks for pointing that out 'just me' (I hadn't seen that before and wasn't aware the MSI is doing such marketing with 3DMark). We'll look into this.

Cheers,

AJ
