Shadermark

Yes and we have Hundreds of DX9 Pixel Shader 2.0 games to benchmark with, the entire idea of these demo's/benchmarks is a forward looking gauge into the future, some websites can't seem to grasp that..they feel Doom 3 will be the cats ass for PS 2.0 benchmarking...I can't wait. :?

PNG is non lossy unless you set it to only use 256 colours.

ok, still pic 2 looks better in the actual demo
but that might just be my screen, it doesn't really handle 180x1024 very well (which is the res I run in 2d)

I can hear it now though, "but none of these are actual games".
Well, true, but it's certain another nail in "cinematic gaming"'s coffin. I can't wait to see the performance of a DirectX 9 game that fully uses VS and PS 2.0 -- no T&L and no old shaders. . .

ahh well in any case, I ran the open gl one
the one linked in hardware.fr's article (sorry didn't see the on in d3d)

Actually they just linked to the main demo page, not to the OpenGL benchmark..

well in any case I just downloaded the D3D version too and it looks identical to the output of the OGL version

sorry for my confusion :)
