Sega unveils Shining series

These always offer epic stories with well-paced, satisfying strategy.

That´s all fine and dandy if this were a GBA game. It´s a PS2 game, a normal person would expect something more than this.

Why bash Almasy? More SNES stuff? A Shining game has never appeared on the SNES. I would expect quite a bit from two of these Shining titles. This is SEGA getting back to its roots afterall, and it plans to do it in style.

It look excellent (on the art side, since it's a 2D game i won't discuss the tech used in this game).
I'm really looking forward to this one, Sonic, do you have info about this game being translated in english, and i really hope that SCEA won't come around this time looking for problem where there's not, or if they do, then i hope Sega will release the game at least in europe.... :? .... yeah i know, pal gamers + Rpg = teh d00m3d.

SoA is currently evaluating an American release for all three games. Really it ultimately depends on the appeal of the games, but I see no reason why the game wouldn't be translated. PDO was and that was no easy choice to bring over so the Shining series will most definitely be considered for translation. I doubt Sony woul dhav emuch problem wiht the Shining series being brought over as that would mean a lack of SEGA titles on their platform.

Wait for E3 for more information regarding these titles.

:D Very good news if that happens, thanks for the reply Sonic.
SoA should really capitalize on the Shining serie, if it doesn't sell well on that gen at least they're pushing the franchise for next-gen and handheld consoles!

If they make a Shining Force IV for PS2...

Where the hell is a translated port of Shining Force III Scenarios 2 and 3? :D

It´s not a bash, it´s just the incredibly lazy technology behind this game that turns me off. It´s so blatantly dated that this should be a GBA game, I demand MUCH more effort out of console titles. Afterall, technology is there for a reason, all developers should dump this kind of outdated graphics on GBA.

I hope Shining Force looks much more interesting than this.

I'd rather have a nice story line, with interesting characters and with some nice tunes on the background, then some 'pretty' looking RPG without a soul...

Alright, so according to you, every game out there that looks good has no "soul"? Only SNES games have that, right?

Just because it´s Sega doesn´t mean it´s ok to be this lazy. It´s like the GCN FE, there´s no reason to justify for its terrible, horrible outdated visuals. If they wanted this kind of graphics, they should have made it a GBA game, console titles should be well above this.

You suggest there should be requirements for design? As if this industry needs more pressure to conform and be conservative with game ideas...

If it were a choice between pretty visuals and great detail to the plot and characters, yes. Of course, if it were both pretty graphics and a nice story... ;)

I´m just saying that if you´re making a PS2 game, make a PS2 game. This is a GBA game, in fact, I´d be kind of surprised if ST wasn´t ported there.

Of course, this is Sega, so your reaction was expected. How is making a GBA game on PS2 being "rebellious" and "innovative"?:D

Isn´t it kind of the point to have both? :) I also think it´s very unfair to say that just because it´s a GBA game it automatically has "soul", don´t you think?

Any standards that could define what makes a "PS2 game" would be arbitrary. If the game is lazy, SEGA will be the only one to really suffer here - from poor sales.
