come on now, let's be realistic. sega isn't the sega of old. not even close. this is the same person we knew as sega R&D who claimed to be a sega empoloyee and made fake pictures trying to fool people into thinking sega was releasing another portable and/or console around E3 last year.

I think he has some unhealthy love for sega that goes beyond games. Not only that, he only post sega related news like it's important to everyone. I just find it really odd.

Where is the shrug emoticon when you need it?

While I would agree, some people just really like the style of a company or a genre (like RPGs... I get bored with them, but others live and breath by them). And sometimes we all play a game series with some nastolgia, or hope that a fav developer with right the wayward ship. VF has always been a great fighter (my personal fav, but I am not too much into the genre), so maybe the new Sonic and VF footage gots him excited? Hey Tex, throw me a roap here!

Not trying to argue... that maybe Tex just likes Sega games? I dunno. The last Sega game I liked was Super Monkey Balls 2. They stalled on the sequal and I cannot even name the last other game they had out I liked.

Sad considering I love all their racing games (DAYYYYYTOOOOONAAA!), VF is always technically and flawlessly excellent, and Sonic is like a truant Mario on Riddalin :D Panzer Dragon, Shemnue, PSO... hmmm wait a second. What is up with Sega? They have a ton of great franchises and game concepts to be making killer games?

Your right Q, down with Sega! :devilish:

Did not know that...

Maybe he is all that is left of Sega R&D department? That would explain a lot... ;)

Sega Sammy have promising technology on the horizon: a high-end arcade board with claimed unrivaled performance, a value-end arcade board made from the only available mobile technology with programmable vertex shading and a rich feature set, and a wave of the most polished next generation software yet shown.

It's not the label -- be it "arcade" or "Microsoft" or whatever -- on the technology which makes it interesting. It's the design itself.

why should anyone care about arcade tech?

Far be it from me to contradict a senior member, but I would think this being a "tech" oriented site, even arcade technology would be interesting and fascinating to read about and discuss. Especially if what is rumored to be in Sega's next arcade hardware.

That is just my opinion though.

This is the console section, though. ;)

Absolutely, but last I saw Sega was still in the console scene. ;) Personally I think it would be very interesting if Sega arcade hardware used a varient of one of the upcoming console systems as a basis. But I digress.

SEGA's best console games usually started in the arcades, so yeah, the arcades can be the place to watch. Although I'm still waiting for my SCUD RACE... *tear*

I talked with some Sammy representatives a few years back at ECTS. At that time, they were already saying they wanted to expand their business towards the music and film industry, and further. They have MASSIVE funds and annual profits, I can really see them becoming number one. They cover most of the arcade business, and they're getting ready for the next-generation...

What happened to the show (20may) where Sega was showing of their new arcade-board, wasnt there supposed to be alot info on the PVR-series by now?

Hey, I'm just saying why some people might not find arcade boards interesting out here.

Now if they minituarized it and stuck it in a box for home-ownership... ;)
