No.
Could this be true?
I hope so. Because that would be one of the biggest corporate bullying in the history of the gaming industry. It picked up on the PS4 with P.T. People went crazy about it and suddenly from a potentially multiplatform game with a guaranteed PS4 release, making it an XBOX exclusive is certainly one move that would piss off a great deal of gamers.
So, Microsoft is paying billions for Silent Hill? Billions ... Not millions ... Billions.
Why does it matter at all anyways? Better to release the game than never being it realised, or not?I hope so. "Hey look this is a teaser on PS4. You want it dont you? You cant have it. Now buy an XBONE to play it because MS shoved in the money to bully the competition"

You should be happy you are free from Don Mattrick's paws. He is on the lose now and could end up working for another console. Armed and dangerous.
That happens all the time in creative industries. You even get films completed and not released. Perfectly possible that the game was 80% complete and the publisher decided the ongoing investment wasn't worth it.lol source
80% complete and cancelled.
Indeed, but as Shortbread said: Mojang and MinecraftHowever, spending billions on the game makes little sense. That's just throwing money away.
It matters because the game WOULD have been released as a multiplatfotm and secondly this is very unlike a timed exclusive or a preplanned exclusivity. This is unhealthy competition since all the noise started on one console and suddenly someone saw it as an opportunity to use that human psychology to damage and bully a competitor, simply because they have the money to buy them out.Why does it matter at all anyways? The extra 20% of the development process that was left behind seems to be a lot of money. Billions of dollars... If that's so I'd expect a Silent Hill Hololens.
edit: another rumour says that the cancellation and the ulterior removal of the P.T. demo had something to do with this.
Okay for the most part, but I am not sure what you mean by unhealthy competition...It matters because the game WOULD have been released as a multiplatfotm and secondly this is very unlike from a timed exclusive or a preplanned exclusivity. Yes I would have prefered not to be released at all if this is the case. There are millions of consumers who had high hopes to play this game, who has been prepared psychologically for it, who have tried it on PS4, hyped for it, only to tell them later no you cant have it and later "hey MS is exploiting all this mindfuck to further screw with your expectations and your buying behaviour because they saw it as an opportunity".
I dont think the game was 80% finished or that MS will shove in billions. But if there is some truth to it MS would probably be giving a lot less to be made as an exclusive
edit: this is probably a BS rumor also made by someone to raise expectations for MS at E3
Despite the ridiculous price, Minecraft is extremely popular and visible and has a major Internet presence, plus it's not platform exclusive. MS may never get their money back directly from that, but it has wider value. Silent Hills is a niche title and unlikely to shift boxes in a big way, so it'll never make back lots of money. If SH could make billions, Konami wouldn't be selling it.Indeed, but as Shortbread said: Mojang and Minecraft
PT stood for Playable Trailer of upcoming Silent Hills game. It was a reveal teaser trailer.PT is not Silent Hills afaik, but it was related
But Silent Hill has the movies and all, while Minecraft doesn't (although it is used for educational purposes and government projects, i.e. English government built the entire British isles with Minecraft) and according to IGN, they need to sell 1,6 million sales at 60$ to break even. Judging from your post it looks like they are overpaying. If that's so, the value I see in it is the name of Kojima and the movies.Despite the ridiculous price, Minecraft is extremely popular and visible and has a major Internet presence, plus it's not platform exclusive.
