There has been a new release of Retroarch and since I'm using it for emulation, I decided to create this thread.

Retroarch has quite a fwe advantages, but I find the interface a bit complicated and confusing, and if you want to use it, there is this guide on how to get the most out of it from the get go.

This is the official webpage.

I love the classic Golden Axe, and someone made an almost perfect port of the original Sega System 16 arcade machine version for the Neo Geo CD using reverse engineering, which is quite the feat.

So as an example on how to use Retroarch to play the game, step by step....

GAME: Golden Axe Neo Geo CD.
REQUIREMENTS
Emulator: Retroarch with the "SNK NEO CD" core.

Download Retroarch and when in Retroarch download the "SNK NEO CD" core.

In the "system" folder inside Retroarch, unzip this BIOS:

Download the ROM pack from ITCH.io and unzip it.

RUN
There are several ways, the simplest is to run Retroarch and use the "Load content" option.
Navigate to where you unzipped the ROMs and open the folder labeled "GoldenAxe-NeoGeoCD" and the "goldenaxe.cue" file.

Retroarch will show you the CORE list; select the one that says "SNK - Neo Geo CD (NeoCD)"

Retroarch on 3ds for playing PS1 games are amazing. As the screen is low resolution enough, no filtering needed to make things looks good.

Now if only I have IPS 3ds instead of TN...

OH and don't straight upgrade from 1.10.x to the latest version. It broke a lot of things. Can't even do folder scan.

Manually adding games still works tho.
