real flight simulators - update/frame rates

For anyone what works in the flight simulation field, or even army/tank simulators, what is acceptable in terms of framerates/update rates?

both current and past (back to the early-mid 1990s) for simulators that use SGI, E&S or Real3D technology.

I heard that 120fps is sometimes the minimum and also that dropping of frames is just not acceptable.

Typically 60 to 120...

What's with the Real3D fetish lately?

For the most part true... High-end flight simulators and such have traditionally been very strict in the interpretation of "real-time" display (e.g. intolerant of inconsistent frame-rate)...
