PSN not supported by my country/region ???

PS Store not supported by my country/region ???

So there I got a very unpleasant surprise today.


My country is not supported by PS Store.

So when I bought my console 2 years ago I made accounts with other regional addresses so I can access it.

Everything was going well. I could purchase games, add ons and demos with no problem.

Until today.

For some stupid reason no matter my account I get the message that the Playstation Store does not support my country

And PS Store is half the experience.

Now I can not access my bought content in any form and I can not access my account management either!!

Did Sony start tracking our IP addresses? If true thats an awesome way to screw your customers and limit your market

This is extremely annoying and I am pissed off!

I hope it is a temporal error!

Yep Greece. But does it matter? I am still in EU and I was able to access the Store for 2 years since I bought my console.

Anyways I googled and I found out that people are having the problem even in supported countries. Probably there is some kind of maintenance going on. And I hope it does not include IP tracking to prevent me from accessing.

Yes there is maintenance going on... The store gets IP blocked when there's a large platform update.

I was actually close to making this topic when I got the same message last night too. Since I use my US login by default (my "local" one limits me to German content which I don't want), I was in for a shock when I saw the message. After checking my local login though and seeing that I got the same message, I didn't worry to much. A quick look at the boardsus.playstation.com forum revealed that there is indeed some maintenance going on.

It would have been better if they gave an "under maintenance" message. There are many "illiterate" or who dont go over message boards to solve their questions and getting that message some times will certainly annoy

Just read on Eurogamer that the video store is going up this Thursday in Europe (though unlike Zune Marketplace which I just got to try, not yet in the Netherlands). So that's probably at least part of the reason for the maintenance.

Nesh, how did you manage to connect before? If you're using a proxy then IP tracking shouldn't work.

PSN doesn't block by IP except for things like the movie store.

OK, 2 things:

1) The store issue is down to maintenance in a different region to your console. If your region store was down it would say why. This is becoming a common problem and is nothing to worry about.

2) The trophy sync thing - sometimes it may take several attempts...often I think this is down to how many new trophies you have.

I've read that, but I've got this error too recently where before I never had to retry more than once, trying repeatedly on different days to get my second platinum registered. The service is just currently a bit knackered. Although I haven't tried since the maintenance, so things may have improved,

Had the error too, repeatedly, always at 33%. Maybe it's because everyone is synching up their trophy information accidentally when changing their friends list background, or maybe testing the facebook features.

EDIT: It may well be a coincidence, but I tried several times and failed, but then when I entered my facebook details and tried again I had no issues.

No I was having the problem before the release of the update. I will update and try again

Btw I am trying to download the update from the internet and I cant find it . Is it available or do I have to download it on the PS3 directly as the only option?
