PS3 Woes

Got my US 60gb PS3 yesterday and got problems installing the latest firmware leaving my machine for dead now :( Of course Sony EU can't do a thing about it. The only option I have found so far is described at http://boardsus.playstation.com/pla...?board.id=psnetwork&message.id=252645#M252645

I unmounted all the system, and saw that the flat cable from the wireless board was released. I decided to take the motherboard battery off. I thought that maybe the system will erase its memory and start everything from the beginning. Then U have mounted it back and made sure that the flat cable from wireless board was firmly locked. I turned the system on and it completed the update work 100%. Now I have my PS3 back.

I think that this 8002f1c1 error message shows you that there is some part of the system (hardware) failure during the update process. Now I opened the PS3 a bit, but that's a helluva complex process and I'm doubt to continue by my own. What I'd like to know is where I can find this battery on the US 60gb.

If you got it yesterday (new?), why can't Sony do anything? Isn't it under warranty? The moment you open the machine up you void that warranty.

He imported a US PS3 and he's living in Europe?
