PS3 Video Walkthrough

I think the PS3 slot drive has to accept 8cm discs as well.

I see what you're saying. Personally I prefer slot-loading because my kid recently destroyed 2 tray-loading DVD players by pressing the "eject" button and then the tray (in downward direction). :(

As for the PS3 glow, *Argh* I'd rather they include something more useful. We can probably think of good use for it like. e.g., PS3 acting as a VoIP phone (where the glow will double up as a silent ringer, a la vibrate mode). The color can be different based on who's calling.

But I doubt the colored glow idea gets implemented on PS3 because it may not work well in white and silver ones, which seems to be coming next year.

EDIT: Blu-ray discs are hard-coated so scratching should not be an issue.

Yes, verified translucent black.

Sorry, I'm a little late to this thread.

When I was at Liepzig I got really close to the PS3, held the controller, and even turned it on (the controller). One thing I did notice when looking at the PS3, in it's upright position, from above, was that indeed the plastic was semi-translucent.

I could clearly see straight through the plastic to the metal sheething surrounding the ventilation holes. In fact, I think it was because I was looking at a piece of the case that was laticced with holes that I was able to see this effect. So, in a sense, I don't think you'll be able to notice this translucency except for in areas where the plastic has been cut for ventilation, or if unless you hit it with a very bright light.
