PS3 Backwards Compatability status site is live

I could sell you mine, I won't need it anymore when I have a PS3 :D
But I'll keep the games I think. Why have two black plastic bricks standing upright next to the TV? Good riddance I say!
Like I said, I already have one. But the day I get a PS3, the nephew gets the PS2 (as he did my XBOX).

Tried to fire up KOTOR 2 last time I was at my brother's place, but gave up on the jagged low res mess after 15 minutes. And I love that game (sunk well over 100 hours into it).

I'm just going to wait for the equivalent for 360/PS3.

Cheers

Hold on a minute, you're saying you're going to pass up on God of War 2 and Rogue Galaxy to wait for their next gen equivalent?

Hell, last PS2 game I bought was GT4 :)

Cheers

Good God, man! *sighs* Each PS3 bought by someone like you is one less PS3 available for the starving children. I hope you think about that at night when you look in the mirror and reflect on yourself.

You're not getting any sympathy from me, living in Europe I'll be in the group of bitter people that'll be last to see the PS3 goodness.

Cheers

Wait a minute... <counts on fingers> That means you didn't get Okami! FOOL!! (Being in Europe is no excuse. ;) )
Okami's not in Europe. Neither is FFXII. Nor Rogue Galaxy. Nor a host of games that would have made great Christmas presents but which aren't out until after Christmas...meaning a list for me that's rather sparse and yet people nagging me to give them a list. :devilish:

Real men don't nag. Real men import. Real men buy dodgy software to play imports. Real men buy plastic thingy to open the PS2 tray without pressing the eject button to make the dodgy import software work.

Real men go watch footy matches instead of play computer games. Probably.

Damn! I was hoping B/C would be as uncomplicated as it was with PS2 playing PSone games. This is a major factor for me and may be reason enough for me to hold of with purchasing a PS3 until they sort this out. My PS2 is slowly getting old and I was hoping to be able to replace it with a brand-new PS3 soon. Contrary to many others, I still very much enjoy going back and playing the old Final Fantasy games (FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX) and some others and wouldn't want to give that up. I also don't intend to have two consoles hooked up to the tv or get out the old PlayStation everytime I want to play an old game.

Game freezes, music not playing, boxes not shown sounds like big enough of a problem too me. :devilish:

From the article:

Sony Computer spokesman Satoshi Fukuoka said 7,902 titles were released for the PlayStation and 8,181 games for the PlayStation 2. He declined to say how many games are affected. About 200 titles have issues, the Sankei newspaper reported today, without saying where it got the information.

So yeah, it's a lousy article, as they overstate the problem. Not to mention that most of these problems will be fixed.

I mean, seriously, 200 out of 16.000, that's what, 0.0125%? I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if there were more issues, but even then some of the issues involve background music not always starting. Not exactly show-stoppig.

If they found 200 games with problems out of 16.000, consider how many Xbox1 games the 360 ran
at launch.

There's a difference though: Microsoft is doing emulation, Sony more or less put in the latest revision of the EE and GS in there. I would expect more or less everything to run fine. I could also care less about most of those 200 games... if I do read that Gran Turismo and some Final Fantasy's are having problems though, I do get a bit worried. It also begs the question; The issues that have been found - are they the only ones or are there more that just haven't been found and documented yet? What about other games? Can we be sure they work a 100% and without any issues at all or will the list grow?

Why bring the 360 in this discussion? Apples. Oranges.

MS even started by saying they were not even sure if they would include it in the first place.

The fuzz about the PS3 issue is stupid by the way. IMO.

It is not the amount of games that is so important as which games it is that cause these problems...
