Project Cars [PS4, XO]

PCenthusiast racing space, even greater push towards realism. Limited marketing budgets and the market is likely smaller.

Also, lower price of entry, but much less content. Game costs 30 euro, but get it with the DLC, because that contains the Ring, which is all I care about. So I just bought that, ready to try that out with my new card. Hope I like.

You're not alone, but I don't currently understand the logic behind not wanting options. Is it that you literally don't want the option there for anybody or you just don't want to be bothered with it yourself regardless of whether the option is there?
I guess I wouldn't mind if the options are there for everyone else. I dunno, I just like how consoles have always been just 'plug n play' so to speak.

theres another game that fits that description Game StockCar 2013 and while not pretty is absolutely brilliant if your a sim racer.

heh, yea there's actually a pretty big sim culture that most people miss out on. I know next to nothing about flight sims, except that the joysticks are getting rather more extravagant each year. The same goes with these racing sim wheels.

Tried the Ring with Assetto, and felt really good. Wheel calibration was a bit tight though, will try to improve on that.

Was reading this: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-project-cars-performance-analysis

And, is it just me, or are the graphics really bad compared to the likes of Forza or DriveClub?

I mean PGR4 had better trackside detail in 2007:

And does anyone have a car list? Can't see it on their website

Where is the promised 60Hz??? Gone I guess [emoji16]

What is the AA method on PS4? DC has a very effective AA imo...I wonder how PR compares?

But the driver cam view seems to be very cool to me!

yeah that screenshot looks awful. Maybe the gap between perfect condition and imperfect condition is wider in p-cars. because i have seen other screenshots that looks fab.

Project Cars is looking to be a bit of a stinker on consoles. Sim racers need a consistent 60fps and it seems that only the PC version will be able to provide that.

I do find it funny that DF spend 90% of the article explaining how the game is a sack of excrement in the performance department then make a statement like 'Turn 10 and Polyphony have serious competition'. They quite obviously don't.

I can't see any reason why an Xbox owner would even consider Project Cars when we have Forza. It's still the gold standard in console sim racing.

PCars could turn out to be very good on PC though.

I don't know what condition Assetto Corsa is in now. Last time I played it (more than 6 months ago) the vehicle handling was absolutely spot-on. With a G25 wheel it felt very authentic.

It was very basic looking, but I couldn't give a rats ass about the graphics if the gameplay and framerates are solid.

Yes locked 60 fps is must, this is why GT on PS3 is not so good. I will wait to buy a sim car game on PS4...

According to some of the comments on EG this is an old build and the devs are upset about this analysis.

Also, it seems that GF have applied all of the post processing options on consoles. It might be that they're not available in the final build and are set to off.

Good news!

Game is 60fps in vast majority of cases. I'm currently reading pCARS dev forums, and team boss Andy Garton is very pissed that Eurogamer got the old build and focused so much on worst case scenarios [that will be better in final code].

And, is it just me, or are the graphics really bad compared to the likes of Forza or DriveClub?

For a sim racer that has full TOD/weather changes and 40+ cars on track and works in 1080p60... it looks awesome.

DF purposely stress tested the game, and considering how many options are provided, it is no surprise they managed to bring it down, but also therefore not a huge issue. That said the suggestion to include a 30fps frame rate limit option is good for these scenarios. Assetto gives you the option to set the frame rate in milliseconds, first time I've seen an option like that.

I'm not convinced yet of the graphics either, but we'll see. I actually prefer Driveclub over both by some distance at this point even at 30fps, which is surprising to me. I wish DriveClub got the Nurburgring as DLC so we could properly compare! But until then, whichever game gives me the best Ring wins. ;)

I'm not really sure if this is a strong opinion but scaling for newer features could be an issue which is why both consoles are hit rather hard: the minimal requirements for the game are:
For PC gamers, the minimum requirements include an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400/ AMD Phenom II X4 940 CPU, an Nvidia GTX 260 or Radeon HD 5770 graphics card and 4GB of RAM

GTX 260 is DX10... while 5770 is DX11, but is VLIW5 based. If I were to take a stab at it, this game probably benefits from a lot of raw muscle.

Why vertically? It is called 4k because of its horizontal res which is (almost) 4000 pixels. So 12k would be three horizontal 4k screens.
I don't know at which res these games are rendered but I¡ve seen people playing games with multi-monitor setups aligned vertically and I thought it was a more common practice than aligning them horizontally.
