Problem with new DS3

Sorry if this is the wrong place...feel free to delete.

I cannot get my new DS3 to work properly on my PS3.

I need to switch on the PS3 (via the button or another controller) and sync with the USB lead connected.

Once done it's fine until I switch off the PS3 and then I'm back to square one.

I know it's not the end of the world, but my other 2 controllers are fine but I just can't get this one to work.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance :)

Use the hidden reset button on the controller.

You need to push something thin like a pin into the small hole on the underside of the controller. It is the small 1mm hole to the right of the middle screw.

thanks.

tried that - do you do it at a specific time/for a certain length of time/when it's on or off? I tried several combinations! lol

Try resetting the PS3 settings to default, resetting the DS3 and pairing the controllers again.
I had a similar problem when I wasn't able to use DS3 wireless, and this worked for me.
The DS3 (that I bought from YesAsia, using it with my EU PS3) is still having difficulties registering as controller 1 as default, it always is "2" when I power on the PS3 :???: Have to change it manually. I have my suspections that the Buzz wireless dongle is messing it up... but been too lazy to unplug it.

Yes. Same happens with the Guitar Hero dongle, a Force Feedback wheel, etc. I do tend to unplug these eventually because of this reason. ;)

Yes, I have a USB hub with loads in there - certainly the Buzz dongle causes issues so I now leave that out.

I have tried with everything unplugged and the DS3 directly (I use USB extenders usually) - still no joy.

I will try the default reset tonight...interestingly even when I reset my current controllers (press the button underneath the DS3) they still switch on the PS3 without the need to pair or a USB lead :|

Thanks for all the input guys :)
