Probabilities Question

Correct Mint.. Now the final twist (and this is the version thats completely bizarre and somewhat controversial).

What if the door the host opens is empty, but you don't know the rules (whether there are restarts or not) and you don't know whether or not the host knows what hes talking about. In other words, you have to guess his psychology.

What do you do?
 
My mate had this question in his Oxford economics interview, I told him probability is half because the chance you switch is same as chance you don't switch.

That would be the commonly-accepted answer based on logic alone.

Apparently mathematics aren't very logical :p
