Present for mum, i5 750 or i7 860 ? Urgent.

That was funny.
But yea saves the monies and buy a lowerend graphics card. Radeon 5750 would do the trick if you are dead set on DX11 support.

I went with 5770 because it got the slot cooler, the 5750 got the other type of cooler. Anyway I got the goods already.

I haven't done any stress test or anything, but the CPU idle temp at 35C and GPU around the same. Much better than my 4850 in my HTPC that idels around 56C. Anyway I checked out some heavy Flash and Silverlight heavy site using IE and put it side by side with music players peak CPU usage around 75% with average around 40%. Mem usage on taskbar reports 2.7 GB, while at start with nothing running around 1 GB. So I guess no need to OC or add more RAM for the time being.

The 24 Benq monitor is wide, I myself prefer 16:10 for work, but this is the 16:9 that monitor companies try to push to consumers. It's more suitable for movies and not too bad for web, haven't try gaming on it yet. No dead pixel so far, Benq only gives like 2 weeks for dead pixel and after that you need to have more than 5 dead pixels for exchange. It's a decent monitor for the price. At first I thought the monitor would be glossy but it seems it has a matte finish. So all is good.

Win 7, I am not too please with. But I am going to take that to Win 7 thread.
