It's one of those turn based but realtime resolved games. Where each faction plans their turns out without knowing what the other faction has done. Then all actions are resolved in realtime simultaneously.
It's a great game although some people have a tough time wrapping their heads around planning their moves for a turn without knowing what the enemy is goign to do.

I've played some games like that before. Haven't played a strategy game in a while, so I'm thinking it might be time to hop back in. Nice change of pace.
