Original Xbox trademark issue?

Noticed a post on a Slashdot discussion about an issue with the original "Xbox" trademark. I remember back in the day (near launch of Xbox) there was a discussion on B3D (too) about another company owning the trademark. Site search doesn't reach that far back. [Damn. Crew, archives anywhere? History is important!] Anybody remember any details of the issue or the discussion?

yup, Ms paid the company for the name and that was the end of that.
