A source close to an Nvidia partner has informed me that Nvidia will be officially announcing their latest and greatest in video card technology, codenamed NV30, at Comdex in Las Vegas, NV on November 18-22, 2002.

18-22 November announcement which means what about boards reaching stores?Late December for US & Junuary-February for rest of the world?  :(

So when NVidia say it'll be in time for the holiday season - they mean if you the wife or child of a NVidia executive :)

I wonder if they will have a card in a glass case so all the worshippers of Nvidia can bow down to it with a big NV30 halo over it. Well at least we will find out about the new name Nvidia will give their new offspring.

Now ideally Nvidia will have a working card showing demo's and allow the public to test drive it like ATI did. We will see. It does look like Nvida lost the sells from the holiday season coming up in the high end and low end. Maybe in the middle as well because the Radeon 9500 should be out, a $200 plus card.

Our biggest problem is “getting it rightâ€￾

:)

ha ha ha

lol 'a source close to an Nvidia partner' sounds so much like 'my cousin's sister's daugher's friend'.
* i hope its true though!

Relax guys, nothing special is going to happen tommorow, at least not anything that can be revealed...

My assumptions (if u can call them that ;) )

A new PDF will be released (probably revealing yet another feature of the CineFX architecture... but nothing NV30 specific).
Something will be shown running behind closed doors, although not to us... (Note: something will be shown, although don't bet to even hear anything about that... although i bet The Inquirer will definetly post some rubbish :D )

And there I was actually thinking you might stick to your word and stop posting unstanciated crap.

alexsok (and Wavey), I think it is acceptable (to me, at least) for anyone to post stuff that comes with the "disclaimer" of "... from my sources..." or "IMO" or "I assume". Just not when they come out sounding like they are actual company rep.

I agree, but I kinda made it sound like it's actually not speculaton which was wrong...

You know what's worse than posting unsubstantiated rumor without advertising it as such (which I'm not even sure happened here)? Having the ability to edit your posts to make the rest of the thread meaningless.

B3D, please limit edits to 30-60 mins after posting. I'd understand mods editing posts at the request of the author if their sources got upset, but this day-to-day editing (that aleksok seems to be doing way too much of) is getting out of hand. Maybe he'd reconsider some of what he posts with such a rule in place, and we'd be spared this Mission Impossible post phenomenon ("this post will self-destruct as soon as someone contradicts it, thereby kicking the legs out of the subsequent argument unless someone managed to quote the offending post in a reply").

No, it doesn't necessarily mean that at all. It has happened a couple times in the past where video cards were available within a week of the announcement. If this rumor is true, all it does is sets an earliest-possible time that the NV30 could arrive: at the very end of November.

Maybe they will have sample copies of the CineFX architecture specs sent to distributors and retailers :D

What is going to happen september 9th?

nothing :p

Sorry for the multi-level quoting, but it would get confusing otherwise, heheh!

As for the "nothing", I concur. It's been the ninth now for over three hours here, and NOTHING's happened!

Btw, I'd like to take the opportunity to kick the sh*t out of Nvidia's driver programmers and all the f*nboys on the net who have nothing but praise for said programmers, I just installed the latest set for WinME (30.82, and WHQL certified at that, PAH!), and the damn thing is doing SOMETHING to my system that makes it jerk regularly, PLUS eat all spare CPU cycles so SETI@home gets left with nothing. No, it doesn't show up in a task monitor program, it's some invisible process that does all the eating (probably that which makes the system jerky). AND, they haven't fixed the black-screen-problem with fullscreen dos apps either, so I STILL can't play duke nukem... And this is NOT the first time Nvidia has released official drivers that f*cks with my system. 23.11 for example also did curious things, even on a clean OS install!

So, a boot up the arse to all you Nvidiots. (I have a regular GF3, btw.)

*G*
