Nv30 Physical Size Issues ??

I'm sorry Doom, you just ended up being the point of my ire today.

Point in fact: you called the NV30 a poor layout.

I think you don't have the slightest clue about how to tell whether its a poor layout or not, but feel free to prove me wrong.

Now you're saying it won't fit in anything but a full size tower, is the size of a full size card, and it sounds like a jet engine.

I don't think any of those are true statements.

Lets please try to confine our comments to:
a) Facts
b) Things we know about and have at least some qualification to form opinions on.

Will it fit in a shuttle small form factor PC? I dunno. Do you? Or are you just guessing?

This has been the most talked about NVIDIA pre-release card since the last one :)

We never learn from old mistakes.. we continue to make them.
Lets not all be armchair critics, and lets wait for the product to hit the shelves and then we can see if the [ATI/NVIDIA] fan hit the shit or if the shit hit the [ATI/NVIDIA] fan.

Wow, that was quite a good pun even if I do say so myself LOL :)

Does saying something has a poor design have to be from an engineering view? Seems to me that Doom was saying it has a poor design from an end user functional point of view. From that point of view he has already put his case across.

Really?

Does:

the design is poor IMO..no need for a card that size today
and
you think they could at least keep the PCB size down close to 9700 size...trace complexity is certainly more advanced on the 9700 memory interface ??
suggest he's talking about size from from an end user functional point of view? No, he's offering opinions as to the engineering quality and how that the lack of it is making the card is so large.

I'm sorry I'm being an jerk about this, but my limit for people talking out their ass on this forum has been exceeded not just today, but for a long time.

Actually, to get a cheer from the entire peanut gallery, I've become more and more disgusted with the tone of the discussions that are going on here. So much so that I wonder why I even bother to wade through the 5 page posts of drivel to get to the end of a thread. Everytime I type "www.beyond3d.com" out of habit, I catch myself and wonder "why?"

I'm alright with heated discussions, even name calling. Just base those heated arguments on facts that you know and conclusions that you've got some right to make.

For example, you can call me a jackass all you want since I've left ample proof of it over the years.
