Now that the BluRay is accepted as standard...

Where did you get the idea that Blu-ray is the accepted standard? Haven't you been reading the relevent threads on this topic? The format will adopt technologies from both BR and HD DVD.

Anyway I would hope Revolution includes HD DVD, but if they didn't, I hope Panasonic makes a badass Revolution with HD DVD.
:devilish:

Seems like the new standard will use Sony's hardware and Toshiba's software. Some people will see that as the new format being basically a BlueRay disc with Toshiba software tech.

Both Sony and Toshiba have denied that the new format has ben agreed upon.

It's still undecided who's physical layer will be adopted, or even if a unified format will go ahead.

I thought it was confirmed that they're going to use Sony's layer, but i might have been dreaming. If i'm wrong, i'm open to corrections, but i read somewhere here that they had confirmed it.

A few threads down on this very message board:

Basic summary: some reporter was jumping the gun. Neither side acknowledges that a compromise has been found, only that talks are still in progress.

I am very certain it would be the BD physical format.Sony is willing to accept the HD-DVD software format. It doesn't make sense to use the HD-DVD format entirely as this would give Toshiba the entire victory over the format war.

Unless Nintendo want to once again use a proprietary format, it would be cool if they just use HDDVD - the new format. And they might as well.

I could see Nintendo going with a proprietary format with Revolution like they did with GCN, but that doesn't stop someone like Panasonce from releasing a Revolution that could playback HD DVDs. I guess they could use something like a mini HD DVDs, but with some sort of encryption, afterall GODs are just miniDVDs with special encryption.

Fair enough, and knowing them, i won't be too surprised when they come out with their miniHDDVD or whatever.
