Northwood 3.06GHz upgrade path

I have the Asrock 775Dual-VSTA which also has only a 4x PCIe slot. While I've never tested it with a PCIe card, I have seen Anand's number which show on average a 10% performance loss when using the highest end cards. Slower cards have a less impact with loss and low end loss nothing, as they use less bandwidth.

I can say that my board is awesome. I've had another Asrock motherboard that was also stable as a rock. I strongly suggest Asrock.

The big question is does the Dell 8300 (A7 bios) support it? There are problems running the 7800GS so I'm not confident.

Going with Dell was probably a good decision in the whole, but at this point it appears the price I've paid is the concern on compatibility of upgrades. I managed to hook up an Antec TruePower 480 (with case modification required) but it looks like this machine is at end-of-life concerning upgrades. :(

my m8 also has the same board with a pci-e x1900 and it too runs fine despite the fact ati absolutely insist the a x1900 will not run with this board :(
