Ninja Gaiden 2 Confirmed for Xbox 360

"May 27, 2004"

It seems a bit outdated to me. Might want to check the date on things before you claim them as news.

I don't doubt that it will be on the Xbox360 -- but that is a bit old, considering since then there has been some question as to what system it would be on.

Why is the interview dated May 27, 2004?? Well, whatever, confirmation is confirmation even if it's really old.

Anyway, I wonder what the 2 Tecmo action games are? I still think Rygar 2 is one of them, but what the other is... not sure. A new IP I guess, since Rygar and Ninja Gaiden effectively taps Tecmo's action game IPs. I wonder what it'll be about.

yeah last rumor i heard that it would be on another console as they confirmed it was in the works, but didnt confirm it was in the works for the xbox360.

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/617/617876p1.html kinda old also, but not 2004 old :p

There should be no doubt at all that it will be on the 360. Team Ninja games have sold better on MS's console than any others in history.

The question is, will it be 360 exclusive, or will it go Multiplatform?

The only reason people think Ninja gaiden will appear on PS3 (most recently) is because they annouced an untitled action game for PS3. However, I expect that to be anothe rygar game and not ninja gaiden.

That's not it though... they announced TWO action games. Automatically I think Rygar is one of them, but the fact there are two has me curious. If it's not NG it's a new IP.

Itagaki is already making 5 titles for the XBox 360 and has, IIRC and I never do -- IIRCAIND lol, confirmed that none of them were NG2... there was thought it was project progressive, but he said no. That leaves me kinda wondering, especially now there's an unknown action game for the PS3.

In all honesty, though, I pretty much agree. There's no way Itagaki would move NG2 to PS3, but it is suspicious.

Like I said, it's not a question of him moving the game to the PS3, it's a question of a PS3 version as well as a 360 version. After the DOA and Ninja Gaiden sales on the Xbox, there is no way he is going to move either of these games off that system. The Xbox is making him rich. But there is a whole untapped market for the Ninja Gaiden games on the PS3, and I can certainly see that title going multiplatform. (I think DOA will remain 360 exclusive simply because of the lack of competition. They don't want to go head to head against both Tekken and Virtua Fighter.)

I agree with you on DOA... I honestly think that's the real reason he moved to the XBox, but that's me. Anyway, the thing with NG though. That's his wring the most power we know how out of the console flagship title, so if he went multi-console (which he's not at all fond of) it would have to be designed from the ground up for each console. Frankly, I'm much more inclined to believe it's a new IP than NG is going multi-platform.

Maybe it's Project Progressive. Itagaki confirmed it's not Ninja Gaiden, so that means it's a new IP, so it's possible. Ah, but then it would be multi-platform, and he's not for that... hmmm... 2 new IPs?

I think Ninja Gaiden will probably be announced on that Xbox360 show 1 month from now. I hope (for Xbox360 sake) they still have lots of (positive) surprises.

That's not just you. There isn't a doubt in my mind that the reason DOA3 was an Xbox exclusive was because MS threw a wad of cash and a promise of being the only decent fighter on the system for at least 2 years.

And it certainly hasn't hurt Team Ninja at all. They now have an established and rabid fan base, they've got at least 1 million + seller on the system with at least 2 other very profitable games. Xbox fans have made them a lot more money than Sega or Sony fans ever did, thanks primarily to DOA3 being a launch game and the only decent fighter on the system.

And let's face it, Tekken is king on any system, and Virtua Fighter is easily one of the best 3 fighting series ever made. DOA would be DOA (Dead on Arrival) going against those two on a single system.

That wasn't the case as MS released two fighting games of thier own in the first few years.
