Next gen console interface and OS...

Most of us have seen what the PSX incorporated as an interface and is it not true that most seen it as innovative and necessary for a console?

My question is that are we expecting Xbox2, Playstation3 and GameCube2 to have an OS that almost resembles a stripped down Windows OS or Linux?
I mean will we have more control over the consoles futures and most likely have the ability to use the 'net on these consoles out of the box?

Also, what ever happened to the U.S. spec PSX?

PSX gor shelved outside of Japan as it lost too much money!

As for OS, certainly expect something more complex on next gen XB and PS systems. Something like Windows Media Edition on XB2 I guess for multimedia viewing, and something new for PS3. Nintendo's effort should still be a startup screen and memorycard manager at most if they stay true to gaming only.

Nintendo could also team up with Panasonic to provide media player features. Should be interesting to see Sony features compete with Panasonic features then. ;)

Well, think about the GUI on your cell phone. You can send text messages, play games, surf the internet in a basic way, etc. Something like that is probably already overkill for these machines.
