New PGR 2 Pics

Could be due to the way they captured them as the pictures released today by Xbox365 look much better.

Yeay man, i say those are poor TV captures. ;)

BUT even from the poor captures, we can see how smooth and clean everything looks. The cars are without a doubt, jam packed full of polys, with the environment mapping and shadowing looking sweet. Environment is also filled with nice geometric details, pics 5&6 show them well. It is going to look ULTRA SLICK and SHARP. I tell you so! Technically PGR2 is well above the upper echelon of racers to date. 8P online batter! wooT!!!

Highz sighz, if only BC had more time to optimize their game... :?

Brings me wandering mind to RSC2... i wonder how farth graphics go...The intial screens showing ultra sweeeeeeeeeeeeet dust particles interests are the rising!

This game looks very nice..but in my opinion it suffers of the same 'problem' suffered its first iteration..
Speaking about the lighting, cars don't seem to belong to the scene in which them move. That is a department where, imho, GT3 does much better.

ciao,
Marco

Dural,

Your screens are WITHOUT A SINGLE DOUBT manipulated in one way or another, which probably explains why they look so much better. Look at the big wheel in the background of the first pic, the structure is made up of lots of thin thin crossbeams. I can't see a single broken beam or even a missing pixel.

Look at the lines painted on the street in the same pic. See how far ahead they stretch without starting to look fuzzy. There's also very little in the way of jaggies in all these pics.

These are most likely high-res pics that have been downsampled, look at the fence on the left-hand side in the fourth pic. We know alpha textures look like $£!* on current hardware, but it filters very nicely as it disappears into the distance, wouldn't you say? Same goes with foliage for all the trees.

Why don't you turn on your super-critical x-ray vision you scan all PS2 and GC screens with on XB screenshots (esp for games you've been screaming about in the past, re. dust 'particles' (which are nothing but ordinary alpha-blended decals)), huh?

It can't be that you're a silly xbot fanboi, can it? ;)

Hope you won't feel TOO disappointed when you see what this game REALLY looks like. ;) Then again, chances are your brain will simply refuse to see the irregularities and you'll persist in claiming the game looks just like these screens! ;)

The whole debate about this game has been why is it only 30fps? The reason it is 30fps has alot to do with the full sreen FSAA. Shut your trap ps2 fanboys, the game is the best looking console racing game to date, there is no denying that. 365 also said it played like a dream, and looked even better on tv than it does in stills.

Funny how good news for xbox is somehow always construed as negative  I for one don't bother to go to GT4 threads and dump on it. It may not look as good as PGR2, but I'll be buying both and having fun with both of them. They're still both awesome games (both graphically and gameplay wise) so just grow up and stop this fanboyish nonsense. PGR2 has the best graphic eye candy, and good gameplay. GT4 has the fps and some nice graphics, and good gameplay as well. Anyone that has played previous intallments of these games has to realize these are two of the best racing franchises that exist on the home consoles.

Oooo, the audacity! It really galls me that some PS2-heads have the nerve to come here to our fine thread and suggest 60fps minus shiny friggin car reflections makes for a better racing experience with faster response and smoother handling than 30fps with lots of eye candy! Grrr! I hate PS2-heads, they have absolutely NO appreciation of pointless graphics-whore features in racing games! Oooooh! I'm gonna explode!

Grall, just shut up about this thread if you don't like it. lately you're posts actually ARE getting more fanish. Quit trying to stir the pot, and forget about it for all of us, Ok?

Looks pretty good. I wonder if they'll have full widescreen 720p?

I'd say if 720p widescreen is supported, FSAA will not be there. Anyway, let's wait and see. PGR1 looks good but nothing spectacular (more arcadish) about gameplay comparing to the GT series.

Quincy,
If someone says other people can't criticize game X for reasons which are entirely valid and built upon a sound line of logical deductions, then I reserve the right to mock that person wether you happen to like it or not.

Biggamer's post mostly resembled a childish tantrum pushing the idea that since this is an XB thread about an XB game, only XB people are allowed to post in it, or if they're not XB people, at least they're not allowed to be critical. That's silly, bordering on stupid.

B3D is a multi-format board. If XB people feel overly irritated over what they feel are PS2 people criticizing their games, they should retreat to a XB-only board. Same thing with PS2 people getting irritated over those they feel are XB people nagging, etc. It's something we ALL have to accept, as long as the reasons for criticism are reasonable, which they absolutely were in this case.

Got it?

First batch = poor TV captures, even so the are little to no jaggies.
Second batch = i dare say better captures, rather than downsampled manipulated devshots. Again, almost no jaggies, very clean.

And why is that so? Because like BC have said, they ARE using FSAA. :)

RSC2 does have awesome dust particles. I say it is the best i have yet seen. Very thick, very smooth and very nice! Do not need to feel the lack of love because you are seeing awesome dust on Xbox.

Chap,

Apex has FSAA too, but because of it, the framerate is set at 30fps. I still like to run it, now and then, and enjoy the gorgeous graphics of the demos.

looks like 4xMSAA to me. although it's not quite sufficient ot tell from stills (waiting for some HQ movies).

I sometimes wonder if they could've put a 60fps mode in there (disable FSAA and maybe some other stuff).

Oh come now...

FSAA lessens jaggies, not eliminates them, especially from a base res of 480p. I have yet to see a single console game, FSAA or otherwise without any jaggies in real shots/hdtv.

Nobody said anything about critizing being the problem, it's when your post is designed to either get back at someone for a disagreement in another thread, or you're being antagonistic to others (which IMO you're doing both and even admit to doing that). You don't reserve the right to mock anyone.

So far you've added nothing to this thread. Got it?

Antagonistic? Dude, haven't you ever heard of sarcasm? And if I wanted to 'get back' at Chap, I could do a much better job than that.

Anyway, I'm very happy and pleased to hear apparantly even my post to Dural didn't add anything to this topic. Good, that shows a great deal of similar posts in other threads also totally lack merit, most likely posts YOU YOURSELF have made.

Oh, and by the way before I forget... Please lay off the high-and-mighty routine, if you're so concerned of what others add to a thread, then perhaps you should think of the value of your own posts as well first before you hit the submit button. All you accomplished so far by ragging on me is creating more noise. Is that what you wanted?

What's this? Again with the realtime shadows for the player's car only?

How's that measure in the 'my racers the bestest looking' philosophy?

I saw a demo of PGR2 last week. Smooth, clear, sharp but looking just as realistic as a 3$ bill... in monopoly money. The scenery lacked much of the detail seen in the best of these pics. To top it off, the footage I saw was of replays only. All cars had the appearance and handling of Hotwheels sliding around on dull plastic.

Yeah, I know it's an early build

Grall,

You've already been invovled with one locked topic today. As I said forget about chap. I know he's annoying and can get on your nerves, but what you're doing is just adding fuel for the fire.

Please lay off the high-and-mighty routine,

I will, the same time you quit being so abbrasive. Deal?
