In any case someone may interest on buying it for Xmas (I hope it gonna be sold by that time), I found this 30" LCD from Dell  , Dell 3007WFP TFT monitor was posted as a news on Engadget.com and the originate of this information was given by luftwaffe posted at Neowin.net. Here is the specification on this 30" Dell posted from Dell pre-release techsheet (quote from Neowin.net)

Others: 4-Port USB Hub, 9-in-1 Multimedia Card Reader/Slots, Height Adjustable Stand, Swivel & Tilt. (No pivot)

Release for North America is scheduled for December 21
To me, it is time for ATI new series R5xx to have fun as this X1k series was natively support dual-link DVT for a whole series even a low budget model X1300 :p.

I saw this yesterday. There is very little chance Ill be upgrading my 2405FPW for that. The native res would just be too far demanding. No PC out can run the native res in most of these new games, with anything turned up and get good frames. 1920x1200 already made me upgrade a lot.. no more I say, no more!

Yeah I wanted a dell 2001fp, then I wanted a 2405fpw, but I actually decided I will end up gettinga 2001fp instead and save the money for an hdtv instead.

This has nothing to do with 30" LCDs, but I would really like a 40" CRT right now. Ok, maybe 30" would do just as well.

I'm surprised a seemingly large number of people actually want this. The size is very nice if you want to sit far away, but the extreme resolution gives more trouble than benefit for most users. If you want this big, you're likely better off with a TV.

The resolution is great for photos, beyond that I can't think of anything.

Porn is another reason ;)
Well, of course, but that mostly falls in the photos category. I'm pretty sure there won't be any movies, porn or other, available in 2560x1600 res...

Really agree with that and people nowaday seem sadly to know less different between art and porn . Anyway, this kind of monitor would be well used in publication area and with not very expensive as X1300 would be reasonalbe enough for the task ;). The CAD user would be more welcome with this monitor but the point is menu and icon would be very small as we have to open our eye like . I personally enjoy 1920x1200 on 2405FPW  and will not try put up more res than this (I hope).

Getting seriously OT, but... There really is no distinct border between the two. Erotic art and "artsy" porn flow into each other, and nobody can objectively say where one ends and the other begins.

I would get one of those just for vdo editing purposes. Too bad it says DELL on it. Arent they using Samsung LCD panels for this product?

I can selll you a "DELL Logo Obliterator XS++" for the amazing price of $29.99 per inch. This ingenious device works by blocking out the offending logo. This amazing device can be attached to any DELL product in mere seconds. One side is either black or white (matte or shiny version available*). The other side is adhesive and can be affixed without the need to adhere to strict horizontal or vertical placement.** Not only does it block the DELL logo, but is clearly visible so that everyone can see that you have style and taste and have taken appropriate actions to demonstrate this fact. Get yours while supplies last!

* Other colors available on special order at a price of $49.95
**It is not recommended to re-use the DELL Logo Obliterator XS++. Instead contact your nearest supplier for a new one as re-use may result in failure of the device and the offending logo reappearing when you least want it.

You can play at 1280x800 without breaking the aspect ratio, assuming the downscale is done without filtering, which is a fairly standard (and nice) resolution nowadays. The same can't be said about 1920x1200 (960x600).

You would be mistaken, sir. There's 5000 pixel stuff out there. :)

The loss of quality would probably not be worth it. It is an option yes, but not one I would likely want. I notice a difference from 1920x1200 to 1680x1050 on this 2405.

Its going to be pretty pricey for sure. Perhaps as low as $1300 street price with coupons, but for that money, Ill wait for OLED's or better. Ill just stick with this 2405 till something like that comes out. :)

Damn, I don't think that would fit on my table. The 2405FPW is heavy and I don't want to even try lifting that thing by myself.

I remember when I got my 2405FPW and it put my 17" Sony LCD to shame. I recently got a 7800GTX so I can happily play at 1920x1200 (BF2 looks so nice). It's also a great thing it has Component video so I can hook my my Xbox 360.

Now Dell comes out with this (doesn't suprise me), it made me feel kind of bad and that I should have gotten the 2005FPW then I probably would have bought this to replace it.

I think after college and a job I'll get the next Dell offering or a good HDTV. I'm still very happy with my 2405FPW and I'll use this thing til the day it dies.

Are you sure there would be any quality loss with this resolution? I was thinking that quality would be identical to the native resolution since it is really the integer multiple of the native resolution.

1280*2= 2560
800*2=1600
