Insomniac reached a secondary agreement with Marvel to make the PS4 console game. Sony acquired Insomniac. Sony and Marvel are continuing to work together on future Spider-Man console game. Most likely the only amount of work Marvel is putting in the games is having final approval before moving ahead or being released.

Oooo so for games, it's Insomniac who have a deal with Marvel, and Sony ate them up. Interesting. Marvel rights are such a total mess.

Marvel only sold film rights to Sony. Marvel still owns the game rights and comic rights and merchandise rights.

It looks a lot more complicated in practice. No wonder Sony/Marvel resolved their stupid spat.

I read somewhere that Sony licensed Spiderman from Marvel for just $7 million dollars which in hindsight is a steal. The issue is that Marvel offered their whole roster for just $25 million and Sony turned them down. LOL.
