Madden for X360

Yeah ragdolls physics is really not wanted here. The NBA live demo also looked pretty good. I too really really want some real grass. I want to see super small blades of grass of the field not some turf. I want to see the grass kind of move or tear like real pro grass does when a player gets tackled on it.

I guess I'm asking for physics in the field itself. Sony stated in the leaves demo that all 100,000 leaves could have there own sound displayed in 5.1 surround sound, so I don't think I'm asking for too much

He said "hundreds of thousands" ;)

And what he said wasn't too clear. I mean, each leaf could have its own sound... does that mean each leaf could have a different sound from each other? hundreds of thousands of different sounds? And what quality sounds?

I just listened to it again. Your right he did say hundreds of thousands. I guess that could be from 100 to 999 thousand leaves. I think each leaf would have it own sound but probably not super nice sound. I mean really how great can a leaf sound be.

Hey don't discriminate against leaves! Just because they're leaves it doesn't mean they can't have quality sounds! ;)

I think the motion-captured animations they have look good. Just not realistic at all. I don't want exaggerated ragdoll physics like in shooter, just simulation physics depicting what should happen when a 200 pound player collides with a 240 pound one.

Exactly.

Or a tackle system that is physics based. If my shoulders hit your knee on the leg planted or not planted has a different effect and from different angles. If I thump your with my shoulders or wrap up makes a big difference. If my helmet or shoulders hit your, arm tackle, leg whip, etc...

If they do it right they use some type of blending system where the JOINTS are physically calculated with an animation system. You could have balance, strength, power, INJURY proneness, etc... for each joint. Getting hit on the ankle has a different effect on different players.

Big play runs right through it; QB with gimpy ankles gets a sprain, small WR stumbles but regains balance.

Right now when a player starts a MOCAP (e.g. a tackle animation) it is all static. If a 2 player gang tackle bumps into 2 others guys the other guys get pushed out of the way. If you keap you do the mid air "umf" and go up and down in the same place.

Basically what makes football "FOOTBAL" is the speed and collisions. Madden has none of that. Mo Cap alone will never provide that.

Nice thing about a physics system is they can do it once right then tweak it and add in new "styles" every year. One year do Barry Sanders, next year do Vick, then Moss, Lewis, etc... Pick a theme to really super charge a specific aspect of the animation system.

With 115-218GFLOPs I am NOT asking too much ;)

Damn Acert93 that was one of the best physics based statements that I have ever read regarding a next gen sports game. Your perfectly right, what you are trying to say is if a player like Mark Brunell (who is known to have knee problems) gets hit in the knees in a certain way with the right amount of force, then he would get some kind of knee injury. I like that idea.

Instead of having just a injury only rating, Madden (because we have no other choice) could have different elbow, knee, ankle, or even a concussion ratings.

Shaun Alexander from the Seahawks. This must be the footage mentioned by IGN. This looks more like the Draft Commercial than the mislabeled footage.

Good sign.

How does that look nice? The shadows on the field? The field itself certainly doesn't look like more than green cement. Oh.. is that supposed to be grass?

The stadium detail isn't there. Player detail on pre-scripted animation? I've seen enough of that. Give me something that will be present during gameplay, and because this is the next generation, go one step further and give me something that will actually impact game play!

Well you ain't gonna see that from 2 screenshots i'm afraid.

and how do you know they aren't already using HDR?

If they are, it's not working properly.

The player should be much darker, in contrast with a bright sky. You'd see less detail potentially, but the shot would look much more realistic.

The existing alpha hardware doesn't lend itself to HDR, the final hardware is much more HDR friendly ;)
