The tech convergence has George Lucas’s gaming and movie divisions working hand-in-glove. R&D honcho Steve Sullivan and project lead Chris Williams explain how it’s working

The ultimate goal is to boost collaboration between Industrial Light & Magic, the vaunted effects shop and biggest Lucasfilm unit, and its smaller game division, LucasArts.

ILM is legendary in the special effects field and this sounds convergence sounds interesting. Its about time they took advantage of what exists within LucasArts..

God, this just reminded me how badly I miss old school LucasArts... back when every game they made was gold.

Neat, if not expected, though.

Grim Fandango.......such a great game.

On top of that Lucas Arts was one of those companies that we could always rely on for a great game.

ILM is pretty important in the VFX community. I would like to see what comes of this. Even at this point in time there is still a very different set of needs when it comes to assets for movies and games.

Yeah, LucasArts older games.. amazing stuff..
Monkey island, Grim Fandango, Full throttle, day of the tentacle, The Dig, Indiana jones and the fate of atlantis.. to name a few... pure gaming blizz..

I forsee them continuing to make crap games. They've lost all their '90s talent.

I forsee them continuing to make crap games. They've lost all their '90s talent. And working with a visual effects studio isn't going to bring in talented story tellers or programming wizards I imagine.

Hell they don't even make their own games. They hire 3rd party devs for almost everything.
