Just a question!

Ok .. i know i'll be flamed, but I was thinking. We've heard the NV30 would come out with 256bit bus and now we've heard it'll come out with a 128bit bus. We heard it'll come out with 700-800 DDR but now hear it'll come out with 1Ghz DDr2. We heard that it'll be x2.5 faster than the Ti4600 yet have to see any proof of this. We've heard that the NV30 will be released in November but now there are stories of delay. So this is my question.

Are Nvidia planning to release different versions of the NV30 at the same time?? Is it possible that Nvidia have the delay because of this? Maybe a 256bit NV30 and a 128Bit(Much like what ATI have done with the 9700 and 9500). The 1Ghz DDr2 memory and 700-800 versions.

Which do you think will be most feasible?
Imagine

NV30
256bit
128-256mb
350-500mhz core
1Ghz DDR2 mem.

NV30
128bit
128mb
350-450mhz core
1 Ghz DDR2 Mem.

NV30
128bit
128mb
350-450mhz core
700-800 DDR mem.

come on you also missed, is it -

8pipes x 1 TMU
8 pipes x 2 TMU's
4pipes x 4 TMU's

??

or

IMR
or DFR
or hybrid

I wish MuFu contacts in nVidia were as loose lipped as his ATI contacts

My old CS clan has a new forum, new CL, matches arranged - I cant beleive it :)

We are all getting nostalgic for the old days when we had fun with CS. Like all nostalgia trips its bound to end in tears ;)

So if one would assure you that a specific combination would be the real one, you'd be wiser concerning what exactly? Paperspecs? Good luck making estimates on those.

Hell, I'll take the middle of the road:

192 Bit, Memory at 450 MHz.
192 Mb Ram (BTW, 96 MB is DDR-I, and 96 MB is DDR-II)
6 pipelines with 2.5 TMUs each
Hybrid IMR / Deferred
375 Hz Core
Supports DX 9.05

I shouldn't be too far off in any single case! ;)

Yeah, sorry about that. I was actually talking to someone about this earlier. They regularly have meetings in the GPU lab to remind everybody of the NDA... especially regarding product status.

Anyway... if I hear anything I'll keep it to myself, as always. ;)

Damn it, where are those Chinese or Russians when you need them?

Oh well, I am sure they will break NDA soon. Wish they would hurry up, damn foreigners! :D

I think my Apple II had more processing power ;)

Say whaaa? Must be the english to metric conversion, because I think we're a couple magnitudes off. Now, I realize you're being facetious, but... come on... Elite was the pinnacle of the Apple][, and all it sported was hidden tri removal.

Speaking of which... ever tried playing Elite on a //gs in normal clock mode?

LOL. :D

On an unrelated note... remember me banging on about those ATi daughtercards prior to the launch? They allow AIBs to easily add VIVO capability to their 9000/9700-based products. This is the first example I have seen a picture of (although I know a few other companies have adopted such an implementation, Sapphiretech etc)...

Nifty. :)
