J. Allard Interview at Tom's Hardware

2 cores / 4 threads make more sense than 3 cores / 6 threads

however: at least one report indicates 4 processors, or more than 4.

Our sources indicate that the console will use "four or more" of the IBM PowerPC processors, an architecture which will force game developers to significantly rethink the way that games are programmed in order to take full advantage of it.

Alpha kits have always had 2 G5 processors, nothing has changed. Microsoft can't very well hand over computer with 3 processors, it wouldn't be feasible.

Plus both Gamespy and IGN has confirmed 3 cores.

The Gamespy information said alpha kit 1 had three cores. Now this point is missing in the article as it´s been edited. Maybe they were wrong and you are right.

The gamespy article said 2 in the alpha kits, 3 in final. I'm not sure what it says now, but that's what they said originally. And that's what allard's saying now.

I think Sony should call the PS3, PS9. I mean, why have a PS3 when you can have a brand new PS9, 3 times bettah!

and the commercial is already done.

Haha I caught that one and have seen the commercial..

I think badging this era as teh HD era is not bad. It actually makes sense as everythign is pushed as being HD ready... i just saw a commercial yesterday for newschannel 9 (washington dc) where they were touting "The first newscast in DC in High Definition!" I thought it was strange...but it differentiates you from other "lower quality" newsbroadcasts..

J. Allard is actually has fairly annoying facial expressions and a greating way of saying HD Era... I like him when i see hime speak but you can tell he has rehearsed this speech a million times so instead of sounding like he really envisions HD as "a better way to game", its just sounds like a buzzword...

I think they might have problems fitting into THOSE design constraints by 2006, though...
