Is Quadro FX 4000 based off NV4x or NV3x?

I notice that NVidia has information about Quadro FX 4000 and curious if its based off the NV4x or NV3x series?

Here is the link at http://www.nvidia.com/page/qfx_uhe.html

I'd guess NV4X:

Featuring a revolutionary new architecture with 2x the geometry and fill rate, 5x the hardware pixel read-back performance and 1.25x the memory bandwidth of previous generation workstation graphics, and with support for ultra-fast GDDR3 memory

Interesting that they ditched FX for the Geforces but not the Quadros. I suppose the NV3x QuadroFX's actually had a good reputation. :)

Hm, if NV40GL is QuadroFX 4000, what are NV41GL and NV42GL supposed to be called?

My guess is that this card must be one awesome card, because I believe that the Quadro FX 3000 is consider the leader is in this market. A NV4x based one must be awesome.. The 3000 already has 16 pipelines and I currious if they went to 32 pipelines on this beast.

I use Lightwave 3D and NVidia cards are highly recommend - lately the high end 59xx series are the choise, I assume the 6800 is even better choice.. Unless you serious professional with high end monitors.. then this card is probably cost way too much.

Errr, the 3000 is 4x2/8x0 while the 4000 is 16x1/32x0. Could you possibly explain to me where you got such strange view of reality? ;)

:?:
The QuadroFX 3000 is NV35GL, which has 4(!) pipelines (or better, one quad pipeline).
QuadroFX 4000 is NV40GL, which has 16 pipelines, or 4 quad pipelines, which are a bit less capable (in terms of ops/clock, not in features) than those of NV35GL.

My quess is Quadro FX 800 and Quadro FX 1200 for low and mid range versions.
Now that would be really poor names, considering NV41GL should still be faster and more capable than a QuadroFX 3000.

I was mistaken about pipelines on 3000G, according to NVidia website - it appears to have 8 pipelines which is double NV35. No indications on 4000.

NV35 = NV35GL = QuadroFX 3000 = 4 Pipelines
NV40 = NV40GL = QuadroFX 4000 = 16 Pipelines

This is true with very minor differences between the GL and non-GL varieties.

It has eight pipelines the same way that nVidia claimed the NV30 had eight, in both cases it is 4x2/8x0 chip.
