Babylon was founded in 2000bc on a great plain, surrounded by wild game and forests.

Quickly, the Mesopotamians developed irrigation and began expanding the reach of their culture.

As time went on, science flourished, philosophy flourished, and the great Mesopotamian empire developed in peace with all of its neighbors, never once entering a war without being provoked.

Even though it had a flourishing democracy, the industrial age came late to this nation and the other nations passed it by. It did, however, manage to keep itself relevant to the world through trade and skillful resource management.

Finally, they had started a peaceful nuclear program for the purposes of moving toward a clean energy source when disaster struck. They were sneak attacked by the invading western forces, claiming some imagined wrong.

Because of mutual protection pacts, the fair Mesopotamian land was quickly drawn into a war against the whole of the world. Without a chance to resolve things diplomatically, it was besieged on all sides by the allies of the invaders and the nation's destruction was imminent.

"God damn you, Sid Miers", I said. "Another 12 hours wasted!"
