the article could have been balanced.... but it's not.

On the cpu side it's quiet fair, except the fact , he should have put some stronger accent on the fact that cell is likely to outperform the xenon in the long run and in the good hands.

On the gpu side it's clearly unfair, it don't speak about some actual problem dev still encounter at this time with xenos = tiling and some latencies issues.

Shortly, it should have more optimistic in regard of cell performance and give credit to devs and time the same way he does with xenos on the gpu side and ignoring by the way some actual issues.
Or be more critic with the xenos.

Be the an interesting for not too technical persons and slightly more than causual gamers.

But I don't think the real knowledgeable persons will add something interesting because all part of the article have been beaten to hell in lot of more technical threads.

Liolio did we read the same article? He does in fact say the Cell has more potential. He just doesn't say it in those exact words. Did you miss the part where he talks about Heavenly Sword? If you reread the article I think you will she it has everything you are saying it is missing.

You said, "On the cpu side it's quiet fair, except the fact , he should have put some stronger accent on the fact that cell is likely to outperform the xenon in the long run and in the good hands." This is still pure speculation. No one can tell the future, and who knows what will happen on the X360 side of things. It is probable but not definite.

The only part I saw the article get unbalanced is the amount of coverage he has on the Xenos. The RSX seems to have just been forgotten. Also it is very obvious just by the tone of the words and mood coming through that the author of the article is very excited to speak and tell us everything about the Xenos. That same excitement is not there when talking about the RSX. This is not surprising to me as I think everything is excited about the unified architecture, whether it be Nvidia or ATI. The RSX coverage seems to come off as saying "same old, same old". If I remember correctly though, we don't know as much about the RSX as we do the Xenos. So, that could be a reason why there is so much excitement about the Xenos. Maybe once we know more about the RSX there will be more excitement.

As far as I could tell, the article was as well balanced as it could be given the circumstances and information released by Sony and Nvidia, and Microsoft and ATI. One last thing, if you noticed Dave Baumann was quoted in the article on page 9.

You hit that square on the head. but he does NOT talk about tiling in that article which could be an achilles heel to his enthusiasm especially when you start talking 1080P...

hm, didn't really read through that article, just some bit here and there, but I got the impression that mostly the specs of PS3 were questioned and scrutinized, while those of xb360 were taken and accepted as were :???:
Well, I really didn't read that but skimmed through, so it might be just me.

read... dont skim... ;)

"Vs" topics are not allowed.

I stopped reading the article when it started going on about the Cell rating being based on 8 SPEs and went into random achieved figures as if they give us any more insight. If the article carries inaccuracies like that, I figure it's not worth it.

Why read & analyze some no name guy's article when you can get all the info right here from this forum, the preeminent site to get console tech news? :D

It's like taking stock in game reviews from some random dude's blog.

Eleazar I read the part about heavenly sword and the fact that the autor think the cell has more potential, but from what i've read here a lot of people have real hight expectation for cell.
At this time i agree with you it's still pure speculation.

The autor put to much emphasis on the xenos capability don't even speak about possible interaction between cell and rsx. I think we know a lot about rsx It's a 7800 with some more cache less bandwith and matching number of ROP. More the rsx is a proven architecture (i agree not that exciting), xenos still encounters some issue. The xenos can be an astounding gpu but there still a lot of shades, there is a lot of wishfull thinking and speculation in the xenos part of the article.

I just think that by putting so much emphasys on xenos the article looks way more unbalanced than it's really is, espacially the part coming in the end make this feels stronger too me.

The article is basically a cut and paste of the Major Nelson article with a veneer of diplomacy. Pretty transparent.

6 to 12 months from now things should be much clearer...
