HSI - No Latency issues?

I can't glean any info for or against HIS latency from that article, particularly since the PCX5900 in question is only 350/550 (damn, that's slow).
 
It's probably just me not knowing anything about anything, but isn't it pretty obvious that more chips in between = more latency

AFAIK, there's not going to be any high and PCI Express versions of the older cards. Which makes sense since the're probably not going to be that common in retail.

They've announced a pcx 5950. That's as high end as older cards get.

Hmm, yeah, and the 5750 is not a low clocked version either. I was under the impression that most of the PCX versions would be lower clocked then their AGP counterparts but that doesn't seem to be the case.

More latency still doesn't mean that there are latency issues. And I don't expect any.
