I wish I had done this before the Xbox 360 pricing was announced, especially so we could have compared MS's pricing with how hardcore gamers/early adopters felt before it was announced. The good news, with the 360 prices announced, we can use this to gaugue to some degree the value people are attaching to the PS3. Although not scientific (we cannot even compare how much people were willing to pay for the 360!) this should be interesting. This may also give us some insight to how much people are willing to pay for a high quality console in general.

So here it goes: What is the max price you plan to pay for your PS3. PS3 includes what has been announced:

-CELL Processor
-RSX
-256MB XDR
-256MB GDDR3
-BR Drive
-WiFi
-Ports, Media slots, etc...

Please be serious. If you are strongly biased agains the PS3 brand DO NOT SKEW THE VOTE. If you do not plan to purchase a PS3 in the next 4 years (i.e. before 2010) select you are not planning to buy a PS3.

voted 200$ . But i most likely wont pick it up till they shrink the console . My sister will buy one on launch day as long as its not above 400 and the few games that intrest me i will play on hers

I voted $300, because the machines have traditionally been about 2x US price in $AUD.

I don't understand how that works, other it takes more money to feed the kangaroos or something which drive the freight ships to get them here (slowly).

if your in the usa you most likely wont be able too . Gamecubes are getting 30$ so expect ps2 to be around there in trade in value next year . Slim editions mabye 50$ . WIll be hard to get more with the systems costing 100$ soon

If the conversion is based off of current exchange rate, I would easily pay $500 US, seeing as that is cheaper than both PS2 and Xbox launches. If I thought we would get a fair deal on either X360 or PS3, or I was living in the US, $400-450 USD. Rationale is it is at least as valuable as X360, and X360 will probably drop price.

yeah maybe not trade-in. I'd have to sell it. I remember selling my PS1 for $50 when the PS2 came out :)

yea

I learned working at gamestop that trade ins suck . Your better off reading reviews before you buy or u get screwed.

I'm only trading in some accessorys and the one or two games i never play anymore with the 20% deal they are doing with xbox 360 right now

Going by US prices, I'd buy it at $400. In reality however, that'd mean 500 or above due to the privilege of being in the EU. :|

Not interested. Maybe later on but certainly not now. Not enough info for me to commit at this point, even for a poll. :)

I would pay any price to get it the cheapest, that is if they offer 2 SKUs like X360, I'll get the cheapest one. If they offer 1 SKU at $600, I'll buy it at that, though I'll be grumpy.

That said my preference to pay for PS3 is the same as X360, I like $300 price point. PS3 may have alot of stuff, but its still a game console in the end of the day, BR player I already have and can record too unlike the variant you get in PS3. And they haven't shown any game that interest me.
